I also want to get the AMS intake but I'm not getting my COBB acsess port until Tax time, and that intake Requires a tune and COBB has a map for it. Man i got some researching to do on intakes. Its buy an AMS intake look at it in the box for a couple of months untill i get my access port or get the COBB sf i dont hear much about, or get the AGP intake intercooler kit catback then get the race pipe down pipe and get all of it tuned at one time, but i will have the tuners put my racepipe and down pipe on at the samtime as my tune. HMMMMMM!! choices.
I want to put the cobb AP on my '12 GSR but from what I have read on here and evoxforums it sounds really sketchy. I saw a lot of people were over boosting and had high counts of knock so i'll probably wait until they come out with some official maps (maybe by the end of this millennium?) Check out the ETS intake.-http://www.extremeturbosystems.com/ETS-Mitsubishi-Evo-X-and-Evolution-X-Intake.html They even have a 15% off deal going on right now.

Anyways I have seen someone with a cosmic blue evo x over by Petco off college road in Wilmington. Only other detail I can give is that it had gold wheels. I couldn't see much of it while driving by. I wanna say ive seen it there maybe a couple times.

I would probably go with the Cobb because they have a map for it.

I would save for all the parts, put on what you can to save money, then take it to the tuner to install the rest and get your custom tune done. I was going to get the Cobb AP, but decided against it since they only have beta maps available. At least with a custom tune by a reputable shop you can have peace of mind with the work done and most shops back up their work. After that, just save for your next batch of parts then get another tune. Personally, I'd rather trust some one with experience to tune my car rather than a company who has failed to produce reliable maps for their system after years of testing. Note that Cobb has had good maps for STIs for awhile now, but has failed the Evo community by only sending out this beta crap which multiple people have had problems with. Don't get me wrong, Cobb's reputation shows that they make reliable parts for many different platforms, but if they can't produce good maps for a vehicle that's been in production for 5 yrs I'm not going to support them. I'd rather support a company that supports our community.

I agree with everything you just said! The only reason I want the Cobb AP is because if I ever need to get work done under warranty I could return the car to stock. Other than that I would much rather have a pro tune. What shops have you guys with pro tunes been to around this area?

I kind of threw the warranty idea out the window when I started modding. I went to National Speed in Wilmington and had good results. They have good customer service and an excellent shop. I might have went to some of the others (i.e. Spec- Ops or Force Fed), but I didn't want to make the long drive each time I needed something done to my car. All I'll say is don't go to Majestic.

Thanks for the advice, I called COBB and they didnt have crap for the intake I wanted, I mean I dont really want their intake. So I will probly get AGP cai their front mount kit, a catback, boost control silinoied, airfeul and boost gage, then I will get a down pipe, testpipe and have the shop put it on at the same time they tune it. Setup my car for a bigger turbo that I saw on AGP website check it out they have kits as cheap as $2100 it depends on what turbo you select.

Force-Fed performance in Fayetteville is where I went. Babi is a wizard with the ECU and they are good dudes to have a couple beers with as well.

Thought about just having your stock turbo upgraded? If you are wanting big power you may be limited but I believe I remember seeing on MAP's website you upgrade your stocker to an EF2 for like a grand. About the same with the BBX lite if I remember correctly.

Yeah i have thought about that to as well, I'm not looking for 500hp maybe between 420 to 430, check out AGP with that kit all i really need is the supporting mods like injectors, feul pump etc, but that wont happen for another 2yrs maybe.

By the way Jon how is your car treating you!!

Ah its fantastic man. I haven't gotten the springs on yet but did the boost gauge at my house when it was like ~30 degrees outside, its done but it was a horrible idea. The vendor I ordered my springs through hasn't responded to my emails. Uh oh- lets not go down this road.

I went with the Injen SRI/ UICP and rode around on it for awhile without a tune and didn't have any issues. I'm actually getting rid of the UICP if anyone is interested in replacing their stock one. I got a new one with my ETS intercooler kit and figured all the piping oughta match so it's just sitting in my garage.
