I'm the only black IX that shows up. Haven't had my Evo there since last August when my timing belt decided to change itself. Now my Evo is stuck in the garage because beer virus is holding up my parts.

If you've seen a black IX parked in the main row in front of QS that was mine.

Hello all just moved here recently. I'm planning on importing a Evo IV next year once it becomes legal. I read about problems like crankwalk, but i was originally planning on rebuilding the engine, getting an aftermarket ecu, and other misc items but for the engine should i stick with an OEM block from the dealer or is there any good place to get a built 4g63? I saw some places online are out of stock so I'm not entirely sure on this subject. Thanks again.

AG down in Ft Lauderdale is legit. Nothing around this area though. I personnaly wouldn't deal with a IV because of potential crankwalk issues unless you plan on swapping in a newer 4G63 or 4G64. Bearing and oiling issues on the IV since it was the first year the engine was flipped from the Evo I-III/DSM 4G63.

I personally would just pick up an VIII or IX to avoid any issues unless you already have one.

Chemical Guys detail garage in Tampa has a monthly Cars and Coffee open to everyone. Its pretty cool, you get a variety of cars. Last time I was there an Evo 8 showed up and everyone seemed to go crazy over it. Just an idea for a meeting spot.
As soon as stuff starts happening again I'm down to meet up. Still waiting on my built long block to make it here from NY. HOPEFULLY it'll be sooner than later so I can start getting it in, get tuned, and get back on the road.

Yes like i said in my original post im planning on replacing the engine anyways. I much prefer the older body styles compared to the newer ones and also the most decent evo 8's i could find where about in the 20k range. I'll look into AG, was just looking for some places in the south FL area.

Thumbs up

Finally got Project MJ registered! So I can finally drive it around "legally". With that I'm planning on attending Detail Garage Auto Detailing Supplies Rides and Coffee event scheduled for 27 June.
Been to these before, pretty cool, figured I'd make this the cars debut to the Tampa area. Swing by, I'd like to meet local Evo and car enthusiasts!

I'll be there as long as I'm not working. I'm always down for meet ups. Evo is still down but I'll bring the totally jay dee em RHD Jeep out.

Side note: anyone know a GOOD fab shop in the bay area? Preferably east side (Brandon/Riverview area), but will travel downtown or Pinellas side. Don't need anything crazy done, but don't want a sh!tty weld job either.

Anyone heading down to FL2K this weekend? I'll be down there today and Saturday. Was hoping to have my Evo running so I could race but that's a no-go.

Any shops in the area worth a damn that you'd trust to do an engine install? Once my longblock gets here I might be in need. Was originally planning on doing it myself in my garage but I'm likely not gonna have the time once it gets here.
