I'll volunteer to go first. Give me a day and time that works for you. Maybe Howie would be able to join me (Spotlight on Howie! LoL).

Hey, Evo X owners... there is a question for you on this following link. He is local (Pinellas) and needs assistance. Check him out and offer whatever support you can! Thanks

It was recomended to me to post this here:

Needs some help with my Evo X. Just bought it and has some issues. Oil return line leaking from the turbo. I have worked on a lot of cars but this is my first Turbo.

I was wondering if there are any locals that may be able to help and if there are any good shops in the area. I am guessing that the dealer is not really an option.

I can give more details on what the problems are but first wanted to see if I can locate some local help and possibly a shop..

Don't want to drive the car as the line is not factory, AN fittings and I can not get them tight. I did get them tight but I think it is coming from the 2 bolts that secure the line to the turbo. I also noticed that there is no fiber gasket just some permatex.

There was an aftermarket turbo on the car but it was poorly returned to stock.

Thanks in advance..

Does anyone here feel like driving to New Tampa anytime between now and tomorrow afternoon to help me remove my heat shield in my engine? I dropped my socket in the engine (somewhere), so now I dont have the proper tool to take it off. I already sprayed the bolts with WD-40. I lost the socket when trying (with no luck) to lossen the bolt!!!

If I drive the car to a garage, then it will be extemely HOT to attempt to remove!

I'd appreciate it if you make the trip. Maybe I'll buy you a beer or something... or your meal is on me at the next car show!

Any takers...?

(I am not afraid to work in the rain, if you're not!!!)

I'll be at the Groveland "Autodrama" car show on Sunday. When I come back, I'm sure my engine will be too hot to work on it. I wish I wouldn't have lost my socket! Now I'm scared to crank the engine with fears that it slipped somewhere dangerous!

Alex, did you drop it on the left or right of the head? Are you talking about the exhaust manifold heat shield, can you be more specific? Perhaps it fell on top of your tranny or on the plastic under panels.

It didn't fall to the under panel. It fell to the right of the exhaust manifold heat shield. I can't see it. I rotated my fan by hand and didn't see or feel an obstruction. I will look again tomorrow morning. That's what I get for working in the rain! Alex, you know what my apartment looks like, so you can imagine how many times I've been splashed by cars passing by!!!

If it sounded like it hit plastic then it's probably on your under tray, I hate that thing. A flashlight and a magnet would help to, but I've lost a couple of fuel rail spacers swaping injectors before and didn't find them until a few years later when me and a buddy pulled the motor out of my old DSM.

I saw two Evo's today around the base, ,one looked like Alex's wife's car (AS w/ CF hood black wheels) and the other was a TB with either struts or zipties holding on the front lip spoiler.

I put out a feeler on TR if anyone knows anyone interested in buying a quick Evo VIII. If the price is to much, I can try and work it out, here's the link:

R U Serious??? Really Alex... Really. No Bueno What Evo owener that works on their own ride doesn't have one of those high speed magnets at the end of a metal rod with a handle on it? You should have taken momma's kah to auto zone and spent two bucks on one and you would have been done hours ago. U got me feeling like Chris Carter on Monday Night Countdown... "C'mon Man!"

Hey guys. I botched an easy job. That's typical me! I can get awesome times on a circuit, but can't turn a wrench to save my life! It didn't fall on the under tray. It isn't visible. What good is a magnet when you have no idea where to point it...? (You're right. I should've had a magnet. I'll get one tomorrow! )
