...so I was talking to a tech working at Jiffy Lube and he said something that I thought I would ask this forum...

"Never ride your car in fifth gear. It puts too much unneeded strain on the engine... I never go higher than fourth gear. Ever!"

Is there any validity to this...?

 

Sounds like the guy is a tool to me... I cruise 5th gear all day. Obviously you don't wanna be driving around in 5th gear at 600 rpms puttin around but 5th gear is there for a reason.
