I have gotten the ball rolling with a perfered insurance company in regards to insurance rates. Assuming you dont have a colorful traffic record things should work out great. The only issue they have is with lowering and super serious engine modifications. Finally, there will be a tuner friendly program for factoring the cost of insurance on aftermarket mods. so you can have confidence and peice of mind that you wont have issues at the time of an accident or theft.

I will update this thread when more info becomes available that i am officially allowed to say.

if i'm not mistaken, insurance companies already allow policyholders to insure aftermarket parts added to their cars. sound's simple, not really. when you declare that your car has aftermarket parts, they would ask you if you want to insure the part/parts added to the vehicle. of course this has a matching premium. if 60-70% of the vehicle is consist of non OEM parts, insurance companies usually decline insurance or they insure your car, but the premium would be ridiculously high. coz the way they see it, if you got money to spill for aftermarket parts, you can also spill a lil more for your insurance premiums. if you dont declare that your car is modded and you get into an accident, they would drop your coverages and would give you a hard time trying to make a claim

atleast that's how we do it from where i work.....sux, right?!
but i believe we, @ the tolancer club, aint that stupid when it comes to driving, so we got nothin' to worry about! lol

^ stich ur right i dont know why cops + insurance companies dont get the fact that its NOT the guys who mod cars and in carclubs that cause accidents 99% of accidents are caused by regular drivers who are just plain bad @ driving and never should have got their license in the first place

they fine 1 case of a modded car gettin into an accident and plaster the media w/ it

^ i know, right..
they always assume the modded car is at fault, ALL THE FREAKIN`TIME!
i`m tellin`ya`ll, declaring all those mods aint cheap, that is if the insurance company agrees to insure your car in the first place.

and most regular drivers who are BAD @ driving, they are actually the ones who got their G license on their 1st take! lol

Try getting your license in Finland. Takes about -+5 years to be able just to get on the road. Alot of driver training is required on a close course with a skid pad.

LMAO Me too!!! Without ANY kind of driving lesson, I just went randomly one day..

I backed up over the curb tryin to parallel park on my first attempt (though did it perfect the 2nd time).

I don't have my G yet but I've only been driving like 9 months now.

I still dont know how to back a car into a spot. I can only back out of the laneway or parking spots.

This is true alot of companies have conflicting standards. but the talks I have recently be in, have cleared the air in regards the steps needed. and I was introducted to the Value Added cost vs. the cost of a mod.

So I asked an underwriter today about the rules with regards to aftermarket mods. Basically, if they're racing parts / or performance parts (turbos and such), we decline insurance on the spot. But if the parts are for visuals, we can insure them. And it is so ridiculous that even if you buy a wing / spoiler, they can actually deny you of insurance. They way they think is you're gonna use it to race. And if you say you won't and it's only for making your car look good, they'd say: "So why buy it for your car then?!?" Like they didn't hear you say it's for visual freaking purposes! lol

Thank heavens my wings came with the car! <---- stock = loser! lol

So that was the Underwriters' take on mods.

So I went to where the adjusters are working and asked a friend of mine about it. They're take on mods when it comes to claims (say you got into a fender bender), they won't deny you claim even if you have mods on your car, and even if you didn't declare the mods to your insurance company, they would still process your claim unless you got into an accident because you were racing.

And so after learning all of these things - my nose started bleeding! lol

TMITP!!! hahahaha
