Ok guys I'll stop playing now... I'm suprised at how civil many of you are LOL I was expecting a lot worse LOL of anyone did mistake displacement for oil capacity that would be pretty funny. Aside from the fact I ran about 13 000kms before my first change and my oil was black as hell I didn't see any other issues. Like I said though did have an issue with the factory cranking on the filter at 200ft/lbs. What happened to hand tight with a quarter turn. LOL
You're not the only one. I actually left my filter on the first oil change I did because I didn't have the tools I needed to remove it at the time. Recently, when I changed my friend's oil (also owns a Mitsu), the dealership not only put the WRONG oil filter on, they also torqued it on so hard that I had to drill a hole in the filter and crank it off with a screwdriver.

Gonna try to pick up one of the end-cap type ones or the three-pronged "claw" type for the next change.

I was thinking of just saying f it and leaving it on as well but the filter contains quite a bit of oil and I dodn't want the bad oil contaminating my nice clean fresh oil.
just get a big vice grip, tighten it on so it crushes the filter in a bit so it doesn't slip and you'll be ok.
I have a few diffrent oil filter wrenches but all would just slip, even when I wedged sand paper under the belt.
vice grips ftw!
