TEIN Basic damper (coilovers) - consideration

After a long wait, we are getting reports that their is a stead supply of these Coilovers in the market place. And now in Canada After much feedback from TLC guys over the past 2 years. These are the most sought after coilover vs. other brands. The focus is on coilovers for the Lancer / RalliArt, but I will be looking into pricing on older lancers as well. We will attempt to secure a flat winter time price and when conditions improve for the spring, we will look into a GB for the spring.

EVO X pricing will be handled by the EVO 10 network guys for the spring

Another good bit of news is these coilovers are under consideration by our gold alliance dealership network

There are a few evom vendors that are now bidding to supply us, we will consider evom and local options. so I will keep everyone posted on what we come up with Below is the basic specs for the kit. you can see images and more details from the TEIN website http://www.tein.com/products/basic.html

price is one factor. Trying to research warranty guarentee's and procedure. the 900 US figure on the TEIN price is just the "starting at" minimum for the entire product line. I think when i looked around the MSRP for our Lancer application is about 1100 US. I am hoping we can get a nice shipped price via USPS if its coming from the USA. or if a local vendor has it, I am sure we can secure an attractive taxes in price

Basics = Fail.

*insert palmface*

Completely useless past looking... ...wow, here we go again.

Can't corner balance (=Useless performance wise)
Can't adjust height without changing the spring rates (=bad ride, even on the street)
Loses suspension travel as you lower the car (=really bad ride, on street)
Can't adjust dampening level (=Useless... really useless)
Can't get full range of camber without buying an additional camber-plate (=Useless... really really useless)

Target audience... people who just want to look 'cool' and don't care if everyone else who knows enough to care will know that the owner a... ... ...

okay, that's enough stirring for now.

No. But even the SSs are practically useless.

Over a grand for something that doesn't increase your handling/performance, DO NOT WANT! And these are the coils everones been waiting for including myself when I had the lancer, so what type of coils actually increase performance?

thats interesting, because when we attempted to organize the BC racing package which is adjustable, everyone aborted and said no, we want the Tein ones, rather those. So the BC Racing one was aborted. Both TurboTime and I both talked in depth about this.

The positives about the Tein is their warranty procedures and the fact that they are now being evaluated by our Dealer network for adopting this specific product. At the end of the day, Its just not possible to target everyone one. If you do, your going to end up with every product for all. And at the same time, we are a car club that are dependent on quality dealers and vendors.

A second reason why the TEIN kit is a step up. Is because the OEM GTS struts, CAN NOT BE dropped or they will fail. the valving is not spring friendly. With these you get a functional drop.

We will revisit the BC Racing kit another time.

Not to mention the response or lack there of I got from the vendors carrying the bc racing coils was just a waste of time.

I'm still looking at the bc racing myself probably the ram version they offer as it covers all the points wow pointed out.... but we cant possibly expect to run a club wide gb if we cant establish a relationship with carrying vendors and right now it seems as though they couldn't be the least bit interested.
