I do have lower ic from my Injen full intake kit.
I thought 3" Magnaflow cats were decent, guess not.
Catless is not an option for me! The guy that I saw there had a catco cat and still got 325whp.
The thing that bugs me is that the day before TT tune I had local Midas weld the Magnaflow into my midpipe. Spent $400 on this custom job with material and labor!
Maybe new cats improve over time....

That is all I will say about that because alot of BS is being thrown out here.
I don't know how your 3" cat is going to affect your tune that much. Your tune seems a little sketchy to me.

Biggest restriction is the turbo? You mean the stock turbo? I make 350 WHP on the same mods as him plus a pully and no cat, explain.
I still say the cat, then the lower Ic piping then the stock exhaust and so on..

And Yes I mean the stock turbo.
You stated earlier and I quote "" THE MAIN REASON IS, was that you were getting detonation up top, meaning you were have a restriction not allowing the hot exhaust gasses out, idm man.""
Have you ever measured pressure in the exhaust manifold before, or in any part of the exhaust system??
A turbocharger is your first and main restriction in that exhaust system above a certain RPM.
Now that is not to say that the ENGINE can not produce more power than claimed after his tune. I am just clearing up something.
Secondly if your car with the same mods was making more power before, specifically 50 more HP, you are contributing this to the aftermarket Magnaflow cat? Come on... Read thu the BS
You guys are tuning your cars on what kind of dyno?
Are you both running the same engine management?
Just flashes?
I would like to know if you are truely in the same mod class.

Go back to tuning Civics and installing wooden bodykits.
Obviously you read with your eyes and not your mind.
I stated that the biggest restriction on THAT vehicles' exhaust system was the turbo. MEANING that in my opinion the system if fine and capable of making more power.
NOT that he must change the turbo. I think you need to reread my post.
The evo simply with cams, intercooler & piping, with exaust make tremendous power, when tuned right. I actually agree with your statement.
Except the part of the wooden body kits. We have upgraded to reinforced cardboard now.

Really , you can get 400 whp out of the stock turbo and its a restriction? Since your on post number 8, i'll take your comments with a grain of salt. The cat is most def the biggest restriction on the car. Although i've been on your site. ..very impressive ..

Read my previous posts about HIS system. Meaning that his exhaust is FINE. Your just making excuses because you couldn't match the power figure made by another car.
Also if you can read, oopps I'm sorry, if you can put some ideas together to form a thought then you may have read that the site is under construction.

- full turbo-back w/ rigged mid pipe w/ magnaflow 3" hi-flow cat and 3" core resonator, replaced of 2.5" flange w/ 3" flange
- HKS ssq bov
- HKS 272/272
-walbrow 255
My best pull on Dynotech was 299whp and 299tq. To tell the truth, I was expecting 10% more but still noticable improvement. Mark sweated out some two hours on the dyno and I certainly appreciated his work. He pointed the shortfall to the cat. But I noticed great improvement after the 3" cat over the stock cat prior to TT.
My car now pull beyond 4K w/ linear pwr delivery.
I decided to not use a testpipe for it's disadvantage. So I'm thinking maybe the resonator I just welded yesterday is overly restrictive?
Funny thing was I met up w/ another local 03' evo fellow owner while at TT and he had similar setup w/ the exception of cam gears. And he dynoed 325whp peak?
I don't get it. Anyone have insight to this?
See below for dyno result.

I had a similar experience to yours in the past. My previous '03 GSR was "tuned" by Busted Solutions with similarly laughable results (if you can still laugh after spending multil $Ks on crap and crappy tuning). After much messing around and suffering from countless driveability issues, I finally got the car to make right at 298 whp on the DD dyno (333 whp on Dynojet) at 19 psi.
What I finally did was to remove the aftermarket intake, the AEM EMS and associated stuff and installed an Xflash to scale the big injectyors and an XEDE tuned by Andrew at Dyno4mance in Calhoun GA. That was with "one of those cars"

Your results are not what you could have..... OTOH, your mods and your tuning choice are prolly not going to get the results you want either. Sometimes you just gotta take stock of what you've got, look where you are at and where you want to go. It might be better to cut your losses and look seriously at other alternatives.
