Sparktech's Non-CDI System - Dyno Tested

Here at Spark Tech we have been working very hard to bring well engineered top of the line products. This is why we choose Tefzel Military Spec wiring on ALL of our systems. All wiring on this new system will also feature Varflex mil-spec heat sleeve for further heat protection. All mounting hardware is Stainless steel. This system takes about 10 minutes to install and comes with complete color instructions. We are also in development/testing of our new system for the Evo X and are working with some of the worlds fastest X’s…stay tuned

Over the last several months we have received dozens of emails/pm’s requesting a more affordable option for your ignition needs and we’ve listened. Many of you have known we have been working on this since last year and it’s been very time consuming along with trying to keep up with production on our current systems.
We would also like to take this time to thank the Evo community for ALL the support and kind emails it’s because of YOU…you asked and we listened.

All dyno runs were done without ANY changes and can be repeated by anyone purchasing this product. Our car has the average bolt ons,
  • Stock evo 8 turbo,
  • stock 02 housing,
  • downpipe,
  • catback exhaust,
  • injen upper and lower intercooler pipes with an upgraded intercooler (because we had it in stock J)
  • stock injectors,
  • stock ecu,
  • stock cams

Boost was at 21psi on both runs. I have no doubt increases will be greater with more MORE BOOST and larger cams, turbos and injectors. Stay tuned as we will be doing further testing as we will be supplying one of these to www.englishracing.net for testing on their worlds fastest stock turbo equipped car.

One, 300whp on evo8 w/ stock cams on a mustang dyno = whack.

two, please provide an overlay of the two dyno runs. All I see is a teensy-tiny blip at peak whp.

three, do this test again on a car running 28psi w/ alky or E85 and repost someone with a car this stock is not going to need this. Guys with the above setup (like me) possibly do.

He makes a very valid point.

Most people who required more spark are running alot higher boost.

Good to see its still has some effect on more mild setups. Keep up the good work.

Looks like I finally will have to pay up and get me one of your systems.

This was done on a lightly modded car on purpose. Lucas (www.englishracing.net) will be testing on his evo 8 shortly. I'll work on getting the overlay from dyno facility.
I agree even though a car @300hp wouldn't NEED this, if there is a hp increase at this level, it clearly shows the inefficiencies of the stock coils. More testing to come

Looks very cool. Thank you in advance If you could answer a few questions...

Can you explain some of the technical differences between this and your current CDI and the stock sytem in terms of:

spark duration/power /characteristics
wiring set up
advantages/ disadvantages vs. CDI
advantages/ disadvantages vs. OEM
does this solve some OEM ECU compatiblity issues some have experienced?
does this require a "box" like the current CDI?
what kind of coils are these?

hi just curious, the HP figure was higher due to a spike at 6300rpm for the 2nd dyno graph...

can u do a overlay of the two charts to one?
