^2 channel is compatible with stock ecu and standalones. 4 channel is compatible with standalones only providing they have 4 outputs/channels.

2 channel Pro-12 is wired in wasted spark mode...cyl 1&4 and 2&3 fire together hence the name wasted spark. The Pro-14 4 channel fires 1 cylinder at a time hence the name Sequential.
If you have a standalone it would be best to take advantage of the other 2 outputs and reap the benefits of Sequential Ignition. The Pro-14 outputs 105millijoules to each coil vs the Pro-12 at 52.5millijoules per coil.

Utilizing the Pro-14 4 channel a talented tuner can retard the critical (every engine has a cylinder that runs leaner than the others, some have more than one ) cylinder providing a safety margin other wise unavailable to tuner.

Hopefully this answers some of your questions

Thanks for that detailed explanation! Can a Pro-14 4 channel system be installed as plug 'n play or does it require tuning via stand-alone? I have an AEM EMS, but would like to know if I could potentially have "Shop A" do the actual installation and "Shop B" do the tuning.

Your Welcome. The Pro-14 system is not 100% PnP. We have however made it really simple to install and comes with complete instructions. The only thing that doesn't make it PnP is the fact that you have to connect the 4 cylinder triggers to the matching AEM outputs. Everything else is PnP. Then you will have to go into the aem setup menu and select Sequential.

I certainly don't think any you'll have any problems setting it up. We are also always available should you have any questions or issues.

Sounds good. Is the ability to tune the ignition for each cylinder a "nice to have" or is it a requirement of your Pro 14 4 system? The tuner I currently use may not have any experience performing ignition tuning by cylinder, so it would be nice to know if a pre-determined setup could be used if custom tuning wasn't an option.

Would it make sense to get the Pro 14 4 system if there wasn't a tuner readily available to do the custom ignition tuning?

Can you please PM me pricing for each of your CDI systems?

You don't have to tune each cylinder you can simply leave them at the same timing and tune as usual. The 4 channel system is 2 times as powerful as the 2 channel system and you still have the advantage of being Sequential.
