Forced Performance
Just want to give a shout out to FP. I ordered a new BB green with one of the last MHI exhaust housings on Monday 2/2/15. I wanted the exhaust housing ported which they said would be done Tuesday and the turbo would ship out Tuesday afternoon.
I called Amber back Tuesday morning to request 3 day shipping to make sure I would have it by Friday since my weekend plans had changed. The shipping cost she quoted me was in line with what it typically costs when I ship stuff that size, so I agreed to it. I then asked her if they happened to have red in stock they could put the MHI housing on. She said she would check and call me back. I get a call 15 minutes later, they had a red in stock and she said they could put the MHI housing on it, no charge since they were already taking it off of the green to port it.
My turbo ended up shipping on Wednesday due to the guy who does their porting being backed up with work. Amber upgraded my shipping to 2-day air to make sure I would still get it Friday. The turbo showed up Friday, well packaged and with the other tidbits I ordered with it for a proper install. The porting in the turbine housing is very smooth and very well matched to the gaskets for both the inlet and outlet.
I installed it Saturday and tuned it this sunday. It hits 24.5psi at 4200rpm, tapers up to 27psi by redline (7800rpm), and made 410whp/360wtq on ACN91 octane fuel. I have an appointment with Rick at RRE to get it tuned next week, and I'm sure he'll be able to squeeze more out of it. Transient response between shifts and on/off throttle is amazing. And the lazy feeling I was expecting off boost is non-existent. The flow advancement anti-surge cover sounds like jet engine coming into boost haha. At this point I couldn't be happier with the decision to go with the red.
Thanks FP!
