Question on CEL

My car is throwing a CEL and I don't have time to get it read until this weekend. My concern is will the code automatically reset after a while or will the CEL remain on till it's reset by the Diagnostic Tool.

thanks

Your CEL code will be stored until a service tech resets it. Or until you pull the negative battery cable off for 30 seconds or more.
If you have the money I would suggest getting a ODBII logger from www.pocketlogger.com. You will need to get a PDA also I picked up a refurbed PDA for 101.00 shipped on ebay and the cable and program for 125.00. Best tunning tool I have ever bought. Considering they want 60 bucks to pull a code at mitsu.

My check engine light will turn off by itself after a day or two.

Really. News to me but I bet that code is still stored. Did you ever figure out what the code was?

Autozone rents out OBDII code readers for free, I got a P0420 cat inefficiency with vishnu HF cat when i pulled it. All i did was disconnect the ECU harness for like 5 seconds and it cleared.

The PO420 will clear itself after a certain amount of time (it's either number of starts or a set timer). I get it all the time...

I wouldn't think a CEL would clear itself but again that is new to me as I am used to Honda's where once there on there on.

Ganner boy by dissconnecting the ECU harness you have removed power from the ECU basicly the same as dissconnecting the - battery terminal.

well the CEL that was on yesterday is gone this morning. I'll go to autozone on saturday and see if it's still stored.
