Wanted: HKS 264/264 base map.

Hi,

I am looking for a conservative base map for the following configuration:

- HSK 264i/264e each at 0*
- turboback (mishmash of brands)
- no flash (around 23psi peak)
- 93 octane

If someone can convince me that this timing is not going to give me the most low and midrange torque, and that I should use their timing settings with their map then feel free to persuade me otherwise.

I can pay you for your map but if you want to give me one for free Im not going to complain.

Thanks.

Set your gears at -2/-2. The car will make more power, period. That way, you can start with the default stage 1+ map from the website (free).

Yes. And I'll do that.

Thanks.

I am not interested in peak power, I am interested in area under the torque curve starting at lower rpms and extending into the midrange (certainly there would be considerable "free" topend due to the increased overlap of the 264s over stock). If you can convince me with a couple of dyno plots that this is what I would be achieving by retarding the cams then please do so. It has been suggested that advancing the cams would provide more peak torque and area under the curve but once again I will not be convinced until I see the dyno plots.

In all honesty I was going to get the gears, set both to -3 (as the Xede cams base map describes), and use the free map. But at this point, as I have mentioned, Im not convinced I will benefit from retarding the cams (from my perspective) and I am pretty sure a cheap base map might be available from someone.

Thanks.

Map sharing is good. Like I said before, a collection of maps from those willing to donate would be a very cool reference tool

,,,,here is the thread that was started a while back where I reduced cam overlap on Ted B's car...the results are quite interesting...the car idled like stock with a -4 I and a -1 E
As you can see torque and power was increased but everything came in later

Yes I have read through that thread. It has helped me come to the conclusion that running the cams straight up will improve my daily driving experience the most.

I didnt have much choice with cam selection since I bought them used but probably the 272s would work out slightly better for me. I dont care about idle vacuum and if stalling becomes an issue I can always change my mind about the cam timing later. Besides, I can blame the lumpy idle on MAF signal replication due to the Xede

Absolutely thanks for the refresher post though Dyno4mance.
