How did IE EVO do?

Does anybody know how IE EVO did at Fontana? Did he even go? I didn't get a chance to go because they switched the times from afternoon/night to morning/afternoon and I have work during that time. So how did he do?

IE, Gnulooks, and I all showed up too late to race. It was sold out by 8:15 - we showed at 8:45 am.

IE stayed behind to spectate while the rest of us left. Later in the day, one of IE's friend's car broke down so IE found some shoe polish and used his card to get in one race. One race that Ron totally screwed up. (but there is a silver lining)

Ron got to the line and staged way too far back, then moved up too quickly and staged over the line. He figured they would let him back up, but no. They just dropped the lights. Ron completely bogged and did a Shiv-like 60ft time of 2.2 secs, which completely ruined his race. However, the school bus ran like a champ and still managed 92 mph in the 1/8, shifted perfectly into all gears and finished with a 12.4/117 mph.

No misfire!!!!!!!!!!

The rule of thumb is that every .1 improvement in your 60ft time equals .2 faster ETs. My personal experience bears this out. Also, although a little too much wheelspin doesn't seem to hurt trap speeds, badly bogging off the line does.

So, if Ron managed even an average 1.8 sixty foot, he would be at around 11.6 and 119mph. So he is encouraged to get back to the track asap to give it another go. But until then, his avatar still reads:

Thanks for the info, yeah I figured it would be packed since it won't be open again for street legal drags until March.

Street Racer (IE EVO), you droped the ball on this one. Thats it IE, next time you come over to the house, you are banned from drinking imported beer. Its straight MGD for you from now on. I can see that stuff affects you in more ways than one.

Anyways, maybe next time we will have to camp out all night at Fontucky to be able to get in. IE, I I have a new avatar that you can throw on that school bus...

I arrived at the track at about 7:20 A.M. and it almost looked like I wasn't going to make it, it was that crowded. That's how the Pomona Street Legals used to be. If you weren't in line by by 6:30 to 7:00 A.M. you had a slim chance to race. Anyway, I was 2 cars behind IE and saw him run that pass. When I saw the board show that 117 MPH trap speed, I thought that that he had a lot of wheel spin. His run looked pretty good from where I was. The best I could do was a 13.24@101.97, I felt my car pulling back on the top end, damn 91 octane.

I suck at driving. Asitha AKA King of the streets; so what is your current best ET on your 1+ at one of the fastest strips in the state? I hear 12.3 or 12.4 at best from an insider in your street racing gang. Well with the same set-up I managed several 12.2s and 12.3s back in my 1+ days.So your hypotheisis is either untrue or you sukkkkk more.

Since I suck so bad, what do you say to a little friendly grudge match at Sac within the next month? Will the Norcal or Socal boy claim the unified street racer crown for the entire Golden State? I am officicially denouncing your illegitimate claim to the throne, beeaaathchh!

First off the race Smoggy described is a fairly accurate synopsis of what went down. Details left out were that I was racing a pullied Cobra and they changed the staging area from where it used to be. When I finally staged they dropped the lights immediately and I did not have time to rev the car. Cobra got a huge jump and my AWD advantage was nada. I flipped the script and ran the Snack, er, Snake down and beat her (my biaaatch) by a good margin.

Car ran great and maybe someday I will be in the 11 sec club like CheapBeerrunner!

Actually I bogged really bad and induced no wheespin at all! No wheelspin= lower trapspeeds, terrible ETs, and an embarrassing 12 sec timeslip.

I agree, but excess wheelspin can produce low ET's while still maintaining a relatively high MPH also. From where I was watching I couldn't tell that you bogged . It's a shame that they closed the lanes shortly after, you definitely would have had a chance at that 11 second pass.

I concur with your analysis and my goal was to induce a lil wheelspin to pull a 1.8 60ft or better, trap 119+ mph and run 11.7 or better. Did not happen and my history at Fontucky has been to bog the first launch and kick butt on the next three runs.
Dang Smoggy AKA Cheapbeerrunner covertly wants to keep me in the 12s. That is why he and Gnulooks tried to get me drunk the night before to take advantage of me at the dragstrip.

IE-- You suck.

haha

j/k.... besides the whole driving thing, you might want to try opening up your spark plug gap a bit. I know you like it, but .020" is waay too small for max power. Try .025" and see if your spark holds together. If it does, you'll pick up more power
