TME or 10.5cm Hotside?

Is the TME extra $ worth it or is the 10.5cm hotside just as good?

The price diff substantiates not having to pay for labor, etc. unless you will DIY

the titanium turbine shaft is lighter, resulting in a faster spool-up, which more than compensates for the increased lag caused by the bigger 10.5 housing .

'05 models also have a different compressor housing.

imo the hotside is the way to go. you will cut out most of the labor cost if you can pull the turbo yourself and send it to Andrew to put the hotside on.

i think he charges 1 hour labor to put the hotside on. Plus he sells them cheaper than anywhere else.

I’m with you. Seems a lot of people make claims because they have read it somewhere. As far as I know Buschur is the only that have tested both the MR and TME housings. He saw no substantial difference.

How much spoolup will the 10.5 sacrifice?
Install labor is not an issue since I have access to a shop.

I also have 264/272, did you feel any lag from the 10.5?

FWIW, I've consistently gotten better results with cars that had the TME turbo. The Ti internals do spool up faster and offer less drag, IMHO. They seem to both have a slightly better response as well as max power numbers. The difference isn't big but it is there for sure.

Shiv, thanks for the reply! I'll wait for the TMEs to be in stock again.

If you can pull the turbo yourself, you can also change the hotside. It's a simple bolt-on.
