Stage 1++ first time at track. 110mph trap???

First of, I agree that this is not primarily a drag car but had to test it out. Car still has undiagnosed boosting issue refusing to boost more than 20psi and I am on stock clutch. Anyway the day was more on the dissapointing side but there was some good news:

Best run:
Reaction time: .25 (My best reaction for the day was .08)
60' time: 1.77
1/8 time: 8.20 @ 85.58 mph
1/4 time: 12.8 @ ~110 mph

In my judgement, the ET seems low--that is, high--for the trap speed. Any thoughts why, considering the reaction and 60' times? 4th gear grinds everytime even on the street during less than all-out shifting.

Drag racing this car was painful. I felt bad the whole time. The car just didn't seem to be having fun and it puffed and died a few times to communicate this.

Although I haven't yet decided if I will return to a drag strip, what times can I expect with more seat time?

What undiagnosed boost issue are you referring to? You cant make more than 20psi peak? Even at 4000rpm at WOT?

PS. Ah nevermind, i did a search and refreshed my ever-fading memory. Your low boost issue could either be caused by a boost leak which I'm sure you've been over countless times, a sticky wastegate actuator (usually caused by a bent wasteagate rod) or even a irregular wastegate line set-up (have you ever ran an MBC or had to redo your wastegate control lines?)

my best run was 12.59 @ 108 with a similar set-up 2 months ago. my low trap may be because i'm shifting too high (near redline). i'm going to try shifting around 6000-6200 and see what it will do next time.

Shiv, I'm the guy at the dynoformance tune a few weeks ago with the silver EVO (came in the motorcycle) that wouldn't boost past 20psi. I have since replaced the DV and checked all piping and clamps. I will be performing a leak test this weekend. It seems to be holding better with the MR valve but my boost guage is so inaccurate that it is unwise to rely on it.

I was shifting pretty high--around 7200RPMs. I think 6K might be a tad low.

I think it is the damn synchros. Double shifting might help but I'm not yet good enough at it to apply it effectively in a competitive situation. It sucks though! I am pretty sure that it cost me prescious tenths.

it was suggested to me that i start my pull at the rpm where the torque is peaking. shifting near redline drops me above that point, so i'll try shifting lower.

Try a shift from 3rd @ redline to 5th if your 4th won't go. Also, if your gears are grinding, take it to your dealer and see if they will replace your synchros under warranty. There is a TSB out for them.

I had a 4th gear grind and switched to BG Synchroshift. Never grinded again since then.

Exactly what he said above. I had 4th gear grind too but after Penzoil syncromesh, BG syncroshift or GM syncromesh you should not grind anymore. I just replaced my fluids this weeks and I love every min of my evo shifting

shifting that early will put you out of your power spot in the next gear. ideal shift points are around 7k in 1st and 7200-7400 in other gears.
