in theory you could put it on a hybrid but it would only modify operation of the gas engine...

Ok.. back to business.

As of now, here's was the "Autotuning" upgrade package will include:

Wideband o2 controller (with Bosch sensor)
o2 sensor bung
Knock buffer circuitry
C-Reader OBD-II diagnostic tool
IDC wire

Wideband o2 controller will plug into the XEDE harness (Pin 9 Grey Connector to be exact). The sensor will be screwed into the o2 sensor bung which gets welded into the downpipe. This will provide the XEDE with the 0-5v o2 sensor signal necessary for it to "zero-in"on the desired AFR target. More importantly, the adaptive fuel table allows the user to change the desired AFR offest as a function of knock activity. More knock activity, richer the car runs. Less and it runs slightly leaner for a power boost Again, totally proactive... not Reactive to changes in conditions. Safer and much more powerful on the road.

Total time it takes to interface the XEDE and the Wideband controller: less than 2 minues
Total time it takes to install the 02 bung: A muffler shop shouldn't take more than 5 minutes and cost you $20-40.

Knock Buffer Circuitry will condition and add more current to the raw knock signal so that the XEDE's proactive knock control can do its thing. We have devised a way to vitually illiminate the spurious noise you see on AEM/standalone logs of the knock sensor. And we did this without any type of filtering whatsoever (which always removes information/useful data). To give you an idea of how noise-free it is, at a sample rate of 100/second, Dustin's engine noise, up to 5000rpm, will stay withing a 1-3% range (14-15) real knock bumping up the signal by 200-300% (40-60). Above 5000rpm, normal engine noise will ramp up perfectly linearly to approx 40-45 by 7800rpm. Super easy to distinguish knock from noise. Making the XEDE's proactive knock control super powerful and accurate. And dialing it in isn't scary or risky since the factory knock sensor is still function and in the background just in case things get out of hand. But realistically, one wont even have to change the proactive maps from what we provide. The motors are that quiet and noise-free. All of the random noise that stand alone users see, and are troubled by, is caused by something else other than actual knock activity.

Total time to install: 3-4 minutes

The C-Reader OBD-II diagnostic tool is used to monitor the factory OBD-II system and help with any diagnosis issues/troubleshooting. You'd be amazed by how many times people call and tell us about a code that they haven't even read yet. This will eliminate that problem. As an added benefit, keeping the C-Reader plugged in eliminates the Po300 code that aflicts many EVOs. The other nice thing about the C-Reader is that it is small and plugs directly into the OBD-II port. No wires hanging down. It is completely hidden with no handheld unit flopping around. It is also powered by the OBD-II port so not batteries to run out.

Total time to install: 5-20 seconds

The Injector Duty Cycle wire plugs into the XEDE (Pin 1 Black connector, to be exact) and monitors Injector Duty cycle. The other end taps into the Inj 1 wire on the factory ECU harness. This input is currently used (in all your XEDEs) to monitor the PWM duty cycle that the stock ECU used to control boost. Since the XEDE has been control boost in absolute output mode, this input isn't needed. It's more useful see injector duty cycle as I'm sure most would agree

Total time to install: 4-5 minutes

Thats it for now... more info later

Cheers,
shiv

But for any semi-advanced user this isn't needed is it? The scantool isn't actually feeding a signal back into the xede is it?

EDIT: you know, for those of us who already keep a scantool in the glovebox. -- another shameless plug, hey i even wrote my own http://www.donour.com/cars/pyobd

What if you have a Zeitronix datalogger that just happens to use a Bosch O2 sensor and also happens to have a 0-5 volt 02 output? Would that meet part of the requirements?

Could you dig up your under car picture of the sensor install and post it?

Thanks!

I also endorse the LC-I approach for its compact and clean design.

If you mount the sensor right in front of the cat (as I did), and route it into the passenger compartment, it ends up being a very nice OEM-like insll.

Just an FYI on the wideband install. Here's how I installed mine (Vishnu Sig. downpipe): https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...ad.php?t=84914

IMHO, I have not seen a better spot to install the wideband sensor on an Evo with a cat.
