on other maps I see map that says Knock on it
as I recall it says 20 on all of the cell to activate the ECU knock control ???
I might be wrong

Who needs that map anymore? We're light years ahead of that now.

I'd hoped as much. Even envelope back calculations had me guessing that there is quite a bit of power being left on the table if not scaling things realtime using wideband 02 readings.

so let me ask you this. If the car has a bunch of mods....ie. cams, exaust, Boost control, intercooler.....Etc......and you are running the AEM.............

you can just swap in the new XEDE and it will just autotune to the perfect settings?

I think you would still have to upload a base map for the mods then it would auto-tune from there. Thats what I'm getting from it.

This thing is going to be awesome. I'm glad the XEDE was my first performance mod.

True... but the gains we got from the adaptive ignition system is far greater. Think of it this way:

Avoiding a 4 degree retard even from the factory knock sensor in exchange for a ~1.2 degree retard (just a few engine events earlier) from the XEDE means that you wont experience the 20-30ft-lb torque loss you otherwise would have suffered from. Nor would you have to experience that knock/ping that triggered the big retard in the first place. All we are doing is actively keeping ahead of the game. And it's working alarmingly well. It surprised ALL of us.

The realtime fuel trim is just icing on the cake. It helps, sure. Great for long-term safety too. But as far as power output goes, it pales in comparison to the the new timing management system.

Screw the EVO, what does this mean for me? I swear, I'm 2 seconds away from getting rid of this damn XEDE in favor of a UTEC. All I want is it to pull like a 2.2L. Come on, put an XEDE on Kims car to see if it will work for us.

Nice work btw.

I don't know yet. The next application for then new XEDE functions will be the STi. The regular WRX may not be in the horizon for a little while, I'm afraid.

I am so late reading this, but just finished reading all 8 pages! Great news Shiv!
For those who have a wideband, are you going to sell a upgrade kit sans sensor?
I'd like to get my hands on the hardware to do some testing. I have time to do this

I just had the pleasure of driving dustin's car with the new active timing system. (keep in mind that my car made about 300 whp on shiv's dyno on 91) i must say that his car on a relatively conservative 278 whp tune felt nearly as fast as my 337 race gas tune. Its about 85 degrees today so its definitely not ideal weather for a turbo car, but the car feels totally different. The car is smooth, plain and simple. We all think our stage 1++'s are great, and dont get me wrong they are, but you have to drive an active timing car to understand why its better and faster. From what i felt, it seems the car will always perform at the optimal possible level for any given condition. Its like having a different map for every day of the year. the car feels vicious, and it only put down 278. Transient boost response and partial boost response is the biggest change. Dustin has the forge bov and most of them have tremendous compressor surge issues at partial throttle. I tried and tried to get the car to buck like my car under partial throttle but it was almost entirely tame. Im gonna make shivladen put this on my car next week.. and see what a 300 whp 91 map feels like with the active timing system on it.
