There's a lot of info there and it can certainly get confusing. But the basic gist of how everything works isn't out of this world. Everyone will "get it". If i, in all my carbon monoxided induced stupor, can understand it, anyone else can

I am having some issues here. I uninstalled the previous Xmap3 before dowloading the new one and I am getting VERY funky stuff when I try to open the SMART templates. It keeps giving me "access violations" and only "bits and pieces" of the maps come up and they are scrambled. Any ideas?
Edit, it just decided to start working when I opened them a second time. Weird...but at least it works

HOWEVER, I CANNOT get the damn Xede to upload the new firmware. I have updated the firmware in this thing probably 5 times now so I know what I'm doing and I've checked everything. It gives me a "comms error" 95% of the time and the other 5%, it gets to the programming stage and gives me a bad checksum error. I have redowloaded the file 3 times, and haven't changed its name, etc.. I'm starting to get pissed, any help would be appreciated.
EDIT: It seems that as soon as I post a problem, it fixes itself. Firmware updated, but now I cannot get the maps upload to the Xede...it gives me a map storage error everytime. I burned the new firmware again just incase, but no good. This thing fights me EVERY step of the way

HAHAHAHAHA....as soon as I posted this and tried again, it stored the maps. Go figure!!

well, damn. Trying to update to v3 firmware and it goes through 20-30 seconds of erasing and programing and then i get an error message. Keep trying it, nothing works.
SO, i turn the key on with no power going to the boot mode wire and xede does not light up. ****, so i turn the key off, and back on...xede still doesn't light up. take negative terminal off battery for a couple mins, then put it back on....still no xede lights.
PLEASE HELP! could the xede be fried from the hotwire used in boot mode?

ha, yeah. I waited a little while, and went back out...this time, i tried to update through xmap and it worked like a charm on the first attempt. I just went out for a test run...damn that clutch switch is sensative....gonna take some serious getting used to....
hard to clutch it off the line because if you dump it...car bogs...try to slip it and it approaches the clutch in rev limit....gonna take some practice fo sho.
also, having some idling issues....maybe you could give me some pointers on something i can move around in my map....Dustin is actually checking for me now, he has been a great help today by the way....i think he needs a raise! LOL

^I second Dustin needing a raise, he helped me out as well. When I talked to him earlier he said that he was working on a new template that takes you from A to Z with the new software and letsus know how it works. To Shiv this stuff is old hat, he knows it front to back so it is hard to understand how we simpletons are having problems. But this is all new to us, so we need some help and instructions, it seems that Dustin is pretty good at puting this stuff in to simpleton terms.
It does on my car. I think your OS might be playin games with you.

well, apparently the problem was my map. I dunno what it was, me or Dustin couldn't find anything wrong with it, but i tried Dustin's map just for $hits and giggles and ill be damned, no more hesitation. I even reinputed all of my settings directly from my map into Dustin's with no problems.
I don't know if my map file got some funk in it or what....but its fixed now
