What does this equate to in bhp or horsepower at the flywheel?

WOW...........!!! Is there an exact multiplier that would convert the DD dyno to bhp?

Its funny that everyone thinks the nines are soo much stronger. There have been many back to back 05 vs 06 dyno threads and all of them are nearly identical. The 06's tend to have a tad more torque but peaks are about the same.

Aside from very minor turbo change and mivec ....its the same darn car. Its all in the tune.

IX vs VIII are ~10 hp difference, nothing major. But thats just peak HP and there is more, much more to the equation.

The IX comes into boost sooner and uses less peak boost, calling them minor is subjective but no one can discount the fact that the IX is making more power with a simple tune and TBE vs. the VIII with the same mods. You can thank the impeller change and MIVEC for that.

We saw a 15-20whp difference between the IX and the 05 VIIIs, fwiw.

Anyway at first I was nervous because I didn't think it was really woth it seeing that My 03 was almost payed for. But let me assure when I say that the new 06 isn't even broken in yet but pulls similar to my 03 with all the mods that I had. If I was anyone not sure about the purchase of the 06, trust me it is worth the extra cash just in stock form.
Wow, so your bone stock IX with about 220-230 whp and still not broken in pulls as hard as your VIII with probably 320+whp??? Something was wrong with your VIII. One of my best friends has a 05 MR, similar mods as your VIII, and his girlfriend just bought an 06 IX. He drove both cars on the 1/4 mile track and felt that the IX was so sluggish compared to his modded MR that he has commited to pay his grirlfriend a full custom dynoflash tune. Her car was well broken in.

Without hard data 'feel' is all those who upgraded to the IX can offer. But, like Shiv has posted, the dyno is the best evidence yet of the higher gains made with the IX.

When your stock nines start running mid 12s then I will give them a little credit......

But the dyno wars mean absolutely nothing......dyno numbers are a joke.....track MPH is what backs power up.

A healthy modded and tuned 2003 EVO will be nearly identical to a modded and tuned 2006 EVO.....give or take 10HP which isn't really squat! Certainly not worth trading up for!

Try driving an 03/04 and an '06 back to back at high altitude (above 5000'). The '06 is much more liveable as spool is still decent.

EDIT: altitude _and_ 91 octane.

Whatever....my point is stock for stock sure the 06 is better.....its had time to get refined....but once modded they are the same darn car. Once modded, you aren't gonna feel major differences from such minor changes.

Like I said show me the timeslips. My catback and piggyback only 03 was trapping 108 on pump. If the 06 is so great it should be trapping 108 stock.

I have to respectfully disagree.

The MIVEC 9's are putting down almost as much as an 8 with cams. The big question is, what kind of cams are going to be available for the 9.

And they are no the same darn car. The head on the 9 is slightly different (besides MIVEC), and the turbo is certainly different.

I don't understand your logic but heres some info I have gathered from recent tuning threads from PT tuning and Shiv.

1. The IX puts down 15-20 MORE whp than evo8 in stock form

2. The IX with a tbe exhaust and reflash has about the same power level as the evo8 with tbe exhaust + cams which in itself is kind of suprising

*Of course the tune is essential for making good power but I think your just overlooking the potential that the evo9 has which the larger turbocharger and mivec.

I think this summer will be quite telling of the power that the evo9 has and wouldn't be suprised if some unreal times came from them.
