spiking to just under 1.5 bars on a evo is normal. My defi bf's peak boost reading is always around there. my car is a stock 2003 btw.

sounds like boost cut. usually stock boost start to cut at around 24psi/25psi...

that's even with flash. mine would cut out at 24.5 psi (test on dyno), it'll wot, stop and backfire or just jerk real hard, goes up a bit then do the same thing.

I would have to agree with everyone else that it isn't detonation. I work for a company where all we do is test engines. I have seen several engines fail due to detonation. I have a piston actually melt.

Had this happen to me yesterday. All I have is a Buschur TBE without cat.
I have no flash or anything and have 1600 miles on my 06 IX. Scared the **** out of me..

Could it be the combination of cold air <17 degrees> and more air flow?

What will it take to fix this? I certainly do not want to have to deal with this forever..

Thanks,

Craig
