I hear a "clunking" from my glove box!!!???

This is a "new" sound for me, and I thought I heard them all. I hear the noise in first gear, at 2500rpm, either coasting, in the gas, and doesn't matter if the clutch is in or not. I pulled off my glovebox, and "felt" both the ECU and the XEDE, to see if I can feel the "thunk" thru either box. I can't tell where it is comming from.

Here is my description of the noise:

If you took out the contents of the Xede, and thru a marble in there, and slowly turned it over, so that the marble hits the other side every second. It is definetly a "Plastic-ie" type sound. like a servo going bad in a remote control plane. This happens at a regular interval, 1X per second, doesnt get faster with acceleration, or slower with decelleration. Are there and rotating parts in the Xede? or in the ECU? I dont think so, but any help to the mystery sound would be helpful.

Thanks in advance.

Velcro works wonders to hold the unit in place.

There is a solenoid in there that goes tick tick tick under boost in the old Xede's. Maybe yours is coming unlglued.

the xede is just a circuit board. no moving parts. good luck, and let us know.

The Xede is secured with velcro! I just heard this noise recently. It sounds like a "toc-toc-toc", as if you slightly "tap" on the back of the ECU or the XEDE box every second with your knuckles. It is comming from the ECU or XEDE box, as that is the area, and I took off the glovebox, so I can see the area this is comming from. I have 53K miles on the car now, bought it with 198 miles (new) this is the first time I have heard this.

Another thing. once when my neighbor was tunning the car, with his laptop. I think one on the wires came loose out of the XEDE, as when he pluged the computer in, he must have "tugged" on the XEDE wires and had one come out, as I heard POP-POP out the exhaust, and the car died! it took me 10 minutes to figure it was the wires to the XEDE. If I were to drive down the road, and barely touch the wires on the XEDE, the car will change its idle, higher or lower, depending on where I move the wires. If I put a 20 degree angle (gently) on the wires, I will GUARENTEE the car will DIE! Thats my fault, I just manually pushed the wire back in, and the car runs fine since then, except the fact I cant get over 19PSI of boost!!!!!!!!!!!!! haven't been able to get that far up in boost for a while. All was fine on my Dyno (ok, mostly fine) in July at Dyno4mance.
Since then, I hooked up the Alky kit, and added the HKS DLI II, and it hasn't run fine since. I started another post to describe what the car does now when I get to 19PSI. Not many people are putting input. Any ideas?

maybe your xede has a bad connectionand what you hear is the connecting and disconnecting by itself!also do the noise you hear is like a relay making noise?

It drives fine, (except the boost), idles fine, I have UEGO gauge on the dash, the AFR's are fine. if it was disconnecting, it would go POP-POP and stall, and wouldn't re-start unless I wiggled the wire down in the hole. It does sound like a relay I guess, if you make a fist, and "knock" in the center of the XEDE, or ECU, one time every second, that is EXACTLY how it sounds. I can hear it over the radio, not super loud, but I hear it. It is not constant, but in the last week or 2, it is getting MORE frequent. I guess it could be constant if it keeps on going. It is not changed at all with the RPM's, clutch in or out, air on or off, fans, etc...

Lets say it was a relay, would a bad relay in either the XEDE, or ECU cause me NOT TO BOOST PAST 19PSI? I have been waiting to get back to Andrew at Dyno4mance, to tune the methanol injection, but I have talked to people, and have the Meth. tune to a "safe" and mild street tune. turns on at 16 psi. I had it comming on at 8PSI of boost 2 days ago.

It doesn't matter what I set the meth at, I still cant come over 19PSI of boost. (at 19PSI, the AFR is only 11.5-12.0) but when the car hits 19psi, it falls on itself, as if bad plugs. I bought 16 plugs, and gapped them anywhere from .024-.028. problem persists.
The plugs are the NGK 8's. if the fuel relay was going out, would it make a sound like I am talking about?

The XEDE is maybe 2years old, and it is NOT the SMART system. so I guess V390? WHere is Shiv or Dustin when you need them? I am almost willing to talk to that "girl" again, if she is still there, that is how desperate I am.

Sounds like someone has flown a plane or two b4

Time to get some metal gears for that servo!

GL and hope you find the root cause soon

I built a P51 Mustang with a 6 foot wing span with my father in law, while my wife was pregnant with our first child, and it was a present to my kid. It took 7 months to build, and the wing ended up "warped" (poor build quality), so I never got to fly anything!!! It would have surely killed an innocent bystander or 3 .

No more takers on this topic? are there relays in either box? ECU or XEDE? if one where to go "bad", would it make a plastic clicking sound? You don't have to be a Vishnuphile to answer this question. Someone has to know, and your not sharing!

Would a bad relay, cause me not to see more that 19psi with MY MODS? How about a bad "box"? would that cause me not to see the northern side of 19psi. I hit a "wall" at that point, and cant get past it! the car falls on its face. The car is so loud inside, nearing high rpm and 19 psi, I cant tell what the clicking is doing then.

Its not the plugs
Its not the Methanol

WHAT COULD IT BE??? SHOULD I PUT UP A REWARD?

If you are just looking in and scratching your head, type something! What do you think it is? And NO, its not mice or other vermin in my glovebox, nor is it one of my wifes "jack-hammer" toys either. give me other guesses besides those.

Thanks again.

I never heard of a Cel elimator, is it mechanical? My CEL has been on for ever (20K+ miles) It doesnt bother me, and I am used to it by now.
