Glad to hear you passed. I have the same setup except no exede and stock 9.8 hotside.

One question:

Do you have any idling issues with your setup?

I do. My CEL is on more often then not and keeps throwing the P0300 code. Curious If I will be so lucky when I have to smog in July.

NO. Actually, I have been pulled over twice in the last three weeks. Before that, I was pulled over when I was 16yrs (im 35 now).

first was for no front plate. Woman officer (LAPD) was very nice and explained that ALL local police are cracking down on NO front plate as many cities are having to pay for the expensive cameras they are installing at many intersections.

Second time was SMPD(Santa Monica). These guys are pretty bad when it comes to modified cars. I was going 30 in a 35 zone coming from ice cream with my family. I had two 11year olds, my 7 month old and wife in car. A cruiser pulled out behind me and tailed me for about a mile. When I turned right to drop my daughters friend off at her house, he lite me up.

These two guys were not looking to help police/community relations in any way.

Officer searched inside my car, under my hood and questioned me. Wrote me a ticket for loud exhaust. He found nothing illegal. I did however get a chance to express my dissappointment in his attitude and his search of my vehicle AFTER receiving my ticket.

I put on a HFC to quite the car. This is necessary to pass the state DB test. CAr is much quiter now.

I did the smog test for peace of mind and to help inform those Vishnu customers who weren't sure if their cars would pass smog. Now we ALL know! It cost me $35 without certificate.

My car has the Xede and cam gears. It idles very smooth.

If your car throws a code, you may not pass smog. However, taking in the factory "fix" stating that these cars do throw the p300 stock, may help your cause.

Also, our cars are not due for a smog check until after 6 years. correct?

I used to live in Culver City many years ago and the Culver City police were a pain with the hotrodders that's why I asked. It's sad to hear that the Santa Monica police treated you that way. I haven't been stopped by the police since I was in my early twenties and I'm 46 myself. I was recently stopped by a LAPD motorcycle cop just a couple of months ago for doing 56 in a 35 mph zone. That was on that stretch of Sepulveda Blvd right in front of LAX. The cop asked me why I thought he pulled me over and I admitted that I may have been going a little fast. He then asked me if I answered the next question right he would let me go with a warning. He ends up asking me why I picked the Evo over a STI . I told him that I thought it was a better car and I just knew how to work on them. He didn't say anything about my exhaust, must have been those loud jets that saved my butt.

I'm sure it would have passed on 91 oct, but since adding the HFC, the boost response and power is really a bummer. So, I've found myself running on race map to make up for the loss in power.

Anyway, very pleased to have a "legal" car that hauls ***.

Now its off to the state referee to pass the DB test. I'm sure it will pass.

Now, I would like a turbo upgrade that would pass visual inspection and give me at least 400 whp on DD. Stage 2????

Any stage 2's like to give opinions? Love to hear them.

Are you still using a stock fuel pump and stock injectors ?
