How did the autox practice go on Sunday? Any improvement in the FSAE drivers?

Go away newb. Go-carts don't have 4 cylinder 16v engines or real suspensions.

Yeah it's the 2006 car. We have a whole new batch of drivers to begin training for 2007. That what we did last sunday. We're getting started early so things look good.

So, when are you going to block off the crest road and drive that thing up it?

Why would we have to block it off?

In all seriousness, I am working on taking it to sandia. I wonder what their track record is...I don't know of any open wheeled series that runs there.

Hmmm...well, how about comparing it to motorcycle times? It may not have the outright speed, but it should make up for that with greater cornering grip and braking.

Oh bikes certainly have more outright speed. We have no aero and a 600c bike engine. Any sport bike worth worth it's salt would pull away from us in a straight line. Our 0-60 is only about 4.1

What's really suprising, to me at least, is that I was able to out-slalom a decent rider on a modern bike. Remember that we get 1.5+ g's and there's no chance of "laying down" a car.

EDIT: looking at some forums, it seems that race bikes don't achieve that much lateral acceleration until about a 60 degree lean. That would make really quick transitions very, very difficult.

Actually, it doesn't surprise me that much. Bikes tend to be much lower on the mechanical grip scale.
