So do you guys not have the people to revalve them? or not have the necessary parts? or both?

Yeah right ...

[rant] We have people like you and me who have paid and have been/are being patient. We support Vishnu in the forums and who winds up with a working set of Ohlins? Please understand I am very frustrated and annoyed with the whole situation and I may come out sounding very harsh. Most of this comes form knowing I have no choice but to wait and get d!cked around. I usually don't rant about things and am a patient guy by nature ... Speedo can vouch for that as he knows me personally. Even he got sick of waiting for Vishnu Ohlins and went with KWs. But when you wait patiently for years planning everything out and it doesn't pan out .... its a little hard to take things in stride ... sigh ...
Nobody can blame you for stating the above - best of luck

fyi - I bought mine a couple of years ago, I can't pretend to understand

Sweet! There is someone else about as pissed off as I am! and for the same reason. Hell I ordered mine in Jan and they should have been revalved then too, but I am in the same situation as you.

This is the best part...being naive as I am...I sold my old semi-competitive coilover setup to a friend...now I have a totally uncompetitive ride that I can't do anything with. Thankfully my friends are willing to put me up in their cars for the season or part of it anyway.

I've been running the Vishnu Ohlins for a couple thousand miles of street and roadcourse use. The "good" is that, well, everything you've heard so far is true--they're very likely the best compromise of on-road tolerability and track prowess out there. Just last weekend at Laguna Seca the car was pretty much untouchable by numerous other Evos, STIs, a supercharged NSX, etc. And I'm not the world's best driver.

The only downside I've found (beyond the availability issue) is the limited front travel due to lowering the front to the necessary ride height. On the track the limited front travel is a non-issue and indeed berms are soaked up admirably. Bigger imperfections found on the street like potholes and single-wheel impacts make themselves known though (whack!).

Yeah, especially with my 700/900s, the daily drive isn't the most fun, but I was willing to make that compromise for ultimate performance on track. I still drive daily through crappy downtown roads, but it's a little jarring at times. Oh well, it's worth it when I zoom around the track. I also hit the berms regularly without upsetting the car, which is great.

I think the situation with Vishnu is they are doing the best that they can. There was a little confusion over the last parts of the suspension kit when I dealt with them last Feb. but overall I was very happy with Vishnu chasing down "somebody else's problem."

The end result is yes it hurts their bottom line, but what can you do when Ohlins is being a virtual PITA? Its always been like this from Ohlins. They have the 'name' and sometimes that 'name' means they thumb their noses at the little guy. I remember selling a wonderful Suzuki TL1000S rear damper to a guy in Sweden that lived TWO BLOCKS away from the Ohlins plant for LESS than he could go next door and buy one, PLUS shipping.

Common Ohlins .. don't make baby jcnel cry!

Cheers,

~j.

In my case, I don't think its Ohlins being a PITA as I have all the nessary parts for a Street/Track setup. Unless there are specific shims Vishnu purchases from Ohlins that they aren't getting from Ohlins and don't have in stock.

Ohlin R&T with stock springs check
450lb/in Front Eibach springs check
550lb/in Rear Eibach springs check
0 rate helper springs check
spring perches check
Ground Control camber plates check
Work rear pillowball mounts check
Whiteline rear trailing arm bushing check
Perrin Adjustable Rear endlinks check
Energy suspension front and rear sway bar bushing check.

All I need is for my Ohlins to get revalved so I can get started with my season. I don't know, if in Kekek's case, Vishnu doesn't even have any Ohlins in stock to work on, then that is a different scenario. Problem is there is noone to do my revalve that has been bought and paid for. I mean Kekek and I are both long time well known members here on EVOm and we both have some sort of background in motorsports. I'm just wondering if they can pull some strings to help us out given that our season is starting soon ... Sorry if this comes out sounding snobby but I feel we have a lot more riding on the line and should take preference over some Joe Schmoe getting a set of Vishnu Ohlins just to lower his car and be cool. All we are asking for is updates and a little help with the situation.

I'm glad everyone else is enjoying their Vishnu Ohlins but that doesn't change the fact that myself and Kekek are stuck in front of our PCs scratching our heads. Come on help us out ... please.

In my case apparently the coilover kit was in stock. Then it was shipped to Robbie? or whomever does the revalve. At some point they found out the kit was missing parts (helper springs and spring perches is what I am told, possibly more). Supposedly my dampers have been revalved and are sitting in a box somewhere waiting for these other parts so it can then be shipped to me.

I would like to think someone can "pull strings" or "make it happen". Unfortunately Shiv is more likely to respond to other posts (today, multiple times) about a little article in Autoweek (see other thread) than to care about his customers who have paid their money and are SOL at the moment. With all these Ohlins dealers/service centers you would think somebody might stock the parts and there is a potential solution.

My biggest problem is this: Vishnu has done an extremely poor job of communicating the issues to the customer. I haven't received one email or phone call from them. I had a friend ask me if mine had arrived since he ordered his recently. At that point 6-7 weeks had passed and a week prior he was given a 2 week delivery time. WTF? You (Vishnu) know there are issues and you still quote some ridiculous lead time to the customer. I just don't get it. I have no problem waiting for product if I am being kept in the loop and am properly imformed from the get-go.

Honestly, I applaud Paul (chronohunter) for giving some answers in here and defending the product. Unfortunately it just doesn't make me (or any other customer) about being mislead

Anyway, at this point I am not getting excited anymore. It's just a waiting game since I found an STU ride.

Hey Gents,

I wish there was something I could say that would have alleviated this wait. Unfortunately, I cant, there are too many issues surrounding the Ohlins supply that chain us to this wait. For this reason, we have taken the system off our webpage, as it reflects poorly upon us as a business. The unfortunate part whole situation is that the customer is not the only party receiving unrealistic lead times. Ohlins has often promised us 1 week lead times, and 3 months later we are still calling and waiting. The more likely scenario is that we receive the shocks, only to be missing half of the parts in the box, which is what has happened with 4 out of the past 6 sets.

In the end, none of this back story makes the customer any happier, or the wait any less. But it is important for everyone to know the situation, and know that we are doing everything within our power to fix it. Shiv, Calvin and I are aware of the situation, and we are going to do what it takes to get you guys the shocks. If that means buying the missing parts from a third hand party, so be it. We are going to make it right.

What a sad day when a vendor has to pull an awesome product because the manufacturer can't get its act together. I could understand if it were some guy in his garage assembling oil cooler kits but a company the size of Ohlin! Especially considering the reputation they have. It is truly disheartening

This is still one of those mods I am planning to do -- maybe I will have to look used.

I really hope Ohlin USA comes through for everyone.

I don't have much hope for Ohlins USA, Sweden perhaps but not USA. They have had this explained to them so many ways from so many people and nothing.

It's really sad that this is happening. I was going to say, in Kekek's case you guys can ship him what you have and he can just purchase the remaining items needed to complete the kit, but fortunately you guys are taking care of that, kudos . I hope you guys understand, at this point, time is more important to us than saving a few bucks. Being in the midwest we get 6 months of learning and catching up to do, compared the competition in the west coast that gets all 12 months.

Any luck in hopefully getting my revalve going?

Edit: thats what happens when you have a bunch of stuff going on and try to type at the same time ...

I would imagine the east coast is similar. We are shut down for at least 4-5 months out of the year.

All this talk of pulling strings has me excited again. That and getting out to an event today! Codrove an STU Sti and an STU Evo9. Dirty the Evo was a bit faster in my hands, but the Sti owner caught me in his car. Lots of fun. Those street tires sure don't like lots of heat. Oh and an Ohlins equipped 700/900 evo was right there on A046's. I was impressed as thats alot of spring rate for the street tires.
