Can Shiv custom tune my EVO IX using ECUFlash??
#7
Actually, this interests me as well. I really am not interested in paying the licensing fee for ECUTEK, and Shiv could possibly increase his profit margin per flash by not having to deal with that. Granted, I don't know if there is profit built into the fee for the tuner (I would hope so); and, locking the ECU also protects tuners (to some degree) from people posting their maps all over the internet.

Yes, we can flash you with ECUflash. However, the price remains the same. Keep in mind that we also reserve the right to encrypt our flashes. Here in lies the issue: We are selling a product, not a template, not a teaching tool, but a product. This product is well refined, and that is accomplished through the research and development behind that product. We are tuners, our intellectual property is what puts food on our tables. With that said, the price for our product is 750, which is a standard price for all evo 9 customers. Now, that is obviously quite a bit more than the 80 dollars for an ecuflash cable, but in reality that 80 dollars buys you nothing, if you have no idea what to do with it. Me buying 80 dollar tap dance shoes doesn't guaranty me a good tap dance show, but hiring a group of tap dancers always will.

Absolutely understand, especially since that's what I want to pay you for. I have no desire to try to tune the car myself, the only ECUFlash advantage being I don't have to have my car down for 3 days and risk UPS or FedEx losing the ECU.
With that being said, I was hoping there was some amount of $ the flash could be reduced due to the ECUTek license being taken out of the equation. Certainly not bringing it down to the $250 level, I have much more respect for the Vishnu team's knowledge and experience than that; but, possibly bring it down to $500 or $600.
Just a thought.
EDIT: BTW, Dustin, that a disturbing photo...

So $750 buys: DynoTime, Tuner Time? How long does a tune usually take? 2 Hours?
So its $375 per hour for Shiv's time?
I'd be interested in a tune from Shiv as he's in California, but 750 is pretty high price for a reflash
[edit] Wow, nevermind. Seems the $750 Shiv charges for a ECU XFlash doesn't include Dyno Tuning at all.... Nice.
