difference

Hi Vishnu:

1. Is there a performance difference between a $750 Xflash ECU service , and the $595 Evo VIII XEDE Upgrade Kit for an Evo IX? Is the main benefit of the xede just to allow one to choose a different map when modification occur, where as you
would have to pay for each flashing service, if you did not have a xede?

2. I have a IX with TBE, high flow cat, will there a map for this, or would this be a "subzero" map too?

3. I live in Texas, and if I were able to schedule a tuning service by you, you could do this and store the information in the Xede? and how much would that usually cost?

Thanks

There is a dyno day scheduled for Houston in October. Sign up soon if your not already...

I will let Shiv trump my answers but here are my thoughts...

1. Is there a performance difference between a $750 Xflash ECU service , and the $595 Evo VIII XEDE Upgrade Kit for an Evo IX? Is the main benefit of the xede just to allow one to choose a different map when modification occur, where as you

$750 is a new flash.
$595 is an upgrade from your existing 8 Xede to a 9 Xede. New harness, firmware, and such. You will also need a flash to move the fuel cut and rev limiter. So, they are two different things all together.

2. I have a IX with TBE, high flow cat, will there a map for this, or would this be a "subzero" map too?

I would say you are a down pipe from a EVO 9 Stage 1 V400. I would suggest a DP and go V400.

3. I live in Texas, and if I were able to schedule a tuning service by you, you could do this and store the information in the Xede? and how much would that usually cost?

Flash... Send your ECU in. Xede can be done with a laptop assuming you have the software and right ports available. There are many threads about all this. ***Nothing beats a custom tune. Get off your butt and go to the dyno day in Houston if you can. Then you will know exactly what you car is doing and that it is properly configured for your mods.

In other words, will it be possible to run an Xede on an EVO IX without the need for ECU flashing? Can the ECU flash be made optional as it was on the EVO VIII.

Certainly. But you wont get the benefits of the remapped MIVEC table. The factory boost and rev limits are still workable in 99% of applications. But with the factory MIVEC mapping, you'd be leaving a lot of power/response on the table.

Along wait for this?

From what I have read I basically monitored this product that I loved from my VIII since Novemeber and am now able to decide on my correct path to go. Shiv, your products are awesome and could't bash them in anyway, but I think that this time the pricing and amounts of time put in to waiting for this to be realeased is just not worth it to me. Please don't take me the wrong way, I highly recommend the xedy for the VIII but I honesly think that the pricing is way to high for a piggyback control unit. Best of wishes to you and your buisness ventures!

Thank you, what I really wanted to know if you foresee the ability of the Xede to control the MIVEC at some point in the future (as speculated in posts earlier in the year).

Thanks again.

It's possible but it will require an extra box to be wired into the harness. Someone is designing this general purpose VVT controller box for us to use in many applications (not just evo). It's still months away from being done and then comes the testing process. So don't hold yer breathe.

Flash

Hi:

Can most Misubishi service department identify an ECU that has a Vishnu flash
easily, during routine services times like oil/ maintainance checks?
