Vishnu tuned Evos at the SCCA Solo Championships

Vishu tuned Evos did great at the SCCA Solo championships in Topeka, Kansas.

The STU class was one of the largest with 50 drivers. There was a mix of M3s, STis, Rx8s and Evos, with Evo VIII being the most popular. Myself, Silencer and Jbrennen were the highest finishing Evo VIIIs. Along with our codrivers we took 4 of the 13 trophies. Silencer and I both run the Xede with SMART.

In BSP action Jon Tak won the class outright in their new IX . His codriver, and the last year winning Vishnu tuned EvoVII, took 3 of the trophy positions.

In SM Navid K. did great in the ProSolo a few days before. But broke his front diff, and battled mechanical issues.

Were you guys sponsored by Vishnu? Is SMART even legal for the STU class, because if it manipulates boost, it isn't ... (just curious). I'm glad to hear Vishnu tuned EVOs did well
On the other hand the STU class winning STi and the highest trophying EVO was tuned by Dieman
If there is anything I have learnt from this sport, it is more about driver skill and suspension set up.

Navid finished 2nd in SM at the Pro Finale and only .068 out of 1st. He had the fastest time on the left course and could have taken 1st had his diff stayed together. I also did ok finishing 2nd at the Pro in STU and 3rd overall in championship points.

I personally will be staying with the Xede/Smart for next season. Very pleased with the custom tune from Shiv (Vishnu).

The Xede is capable of increasing boost. Rick and I have ours set up with the factory ecu controlling boost w/o any manipulation of factory boost tables (via flashing). Also, I am not sponsored by Vishnu so there is no reason for me to promote their products except to say that they work.

And you are correct, driver skill and suspension set-up has more to do with where you place than whp. Especially on HPT's surface. Brandon is a very good driver and he proved again, like in 2005, that he is the person to beat. Jake's co-driver had a very fast time on the second day moving him from 14th(?) to 3rd.

I believe Rick and I would have placed better if we weren't struggling with our set-up's. Cold tires, cold track, and sandy surface put a kink in many competitors set-ups in a majority of classes.

Regardless, it was a riot!

Did you guys get a custom STU map built? Or were you guys just improvising with one of the base maps?

I was a tick faster then them in practice, but yes the dieman IX got my old open front diff '03 VIII by .18 sec over the 2 days. We made a shock adjustment the wrong way due to a timing clock error, that probably cost me the 3/10th of sec to take 2nd. I'm sure others had issues also - but that's racing.

Again congrats to Tak for winning BSP.

Silencer and I had custom dyno tuned higher octane SMART maps done by the Man himself. Tak and Navid had custom tunes on thier cars in the past.

Rick, at least find a better picture of our car.

Credit has to go to Shiv for another flawless tune.

Thanks,
John.....

Yeah, sorry about that. I had trouble resizing the pic to meet the limit. I thought you Midwest guys didn't care about that stuff anyways

+1 on Shiv's tunes.

Congrats at Nats guys...

I can tell you I have had Shiv tuned cars on my dyno down here in for a quick re-tune and I can tell you that the re-tunes were VERY quick indeed. Usually a slight AFR adjustment for the change in locations if that and that's it. Shiv is a phenomenal tuner indeed and one of the few people I would reccommend sending cars to for a tune.

For Vishnu Performance!!
