after getting tired of trying to get my xede to work properly i took it out of my car and founnd this on the harness. Could this possibly explain why it would not boost more then 17 psi and i could not update the software?

No, that is a relay with epoxy put in it. This prevents the relay from clicking while under boost. If you have an older harness, the relay would click under boost due to the ECU controlling it thinking it was the boost controller. If the harness did not have this relay, then you would throw a check engine light. You're XEDE takes over boost control.

About your boost problems, are you sure your maps were correct and that all your boost lines were in order? Also, did you remove the pill in the line like the instructions say? 17psi indicates that the XEDE was working right. Normally if the XEDE has not booted properly or there is a problem, you will only be able to hit ~11psi.

Hope this helps.

the pill in the line was removed, everything was working fine up untill recently and then all of a sudden it just crapped out. it doesn't really look like theres any epoxy in it, it just looks melted but i could be wrong. Also I've experienced when the xede only boosts to 11 psi, this seems to be something different

Event Horizon is right. If the boost control isn't working, you're going to get 11-12psi. Any more than that and the problem lies elsewhere (boost leak, damaged turbo, problem in the boost map, etc,.) And like he said, the epoxy filled hole in the dummy relay is just to make it click quietly.

now i updated to the latest firmware and the xede would not boot properly (10psi max). I tried reloading the map and it kept telling me that the maps in the xede were not synchronized with the maps in xmap. I tried getting the right maps in but it kept popping up telling me the same thing. I started the car up and it had a super rough idle, if i pressed on the gas at all it died. Now nothing works, i can't even connect to the xede and it doesn't boot up at all.

It sounds like the Xede didn't take the new firmware and there isn't a map loaded in the Xede. If I could go by memory check under the Diagnostics section of your XMap 3.2 and click under Xede information. That should tell you if the newest firmware is in your Xede.
