The thing is, i see others post their tune with much higher power outputs with similar mods... my last tune (which i tune myself) using only an SAFC II got me 250whp with the mods below... My downpipe and cat delete has been ordered but do they make that much of a difference? I've seen some posts with 330whp with similar mods but using either your Xede or some reflashes...

My SAFC II is pretty mild ranging from -4 (32k rpm) to -8 (72k rpm)(LT 10% HT 50%). I tried putting in higher numbers but the ECU seems to retard timing and i end up getting worst numbers with leaner mixtures.... Also, I'm boosting at 1.27bar or 18.5 PSI as higher boosts seem to generate less power.. maybe u can shed some light on this... sorry but i would bring my car over for you to custom tune if i could but the frieght charges would be beyond my budget So I would appreciate any help you can give here..
I want an evo 7 So we are sure that the ECU pinouts are the same right? If they are try to 91 octane maps and go back to that same dyno for AFR and fine tuning- The Xede is very easy to use

Just my 2c,

An Aussie tuner, using the UNICHIP piggyback couldnt get it past 244whp (the original Dyno pics) and the UNICHIP has ignition timing control.. i took out the chip and replaced with AFC and got a much higher output then he did... at 256whp... he got 276ftlb of torque whereas now i got 290ftlb.

How do we get away from the knock threshold? My SAFCII has a link up to the onboard knock sensor and the average knock is between 0-70 but occasionally spikes to 170-200. I dont know how accurate it is but its the same sensor that the Mit ECU uses...
Im not sure how much is too high...

All i'm looking for is 320whp... what else can i do?

Thats the best attribute to the xede as it accurately (dont know andout for the VII) attenuated the knock sensor for higher HP cars (safely I might add) that right there is reason enough as well as switchable amps for high octane. But to get 60+ more WHP I think you going to need more hardware. Cams are a great start

I never used a Unichip on an EVO but the WRX version of the Unichip didn't replicate the crank angle signal waveform accurately which resulted in problems such as misfire and (presumably) improper coil charging. There is no other reason, other than the mapping done by the tuner, that you should be getting better results with fuel-only computer than with something that offers fuel and timing controls.

I'm already looking at the Tomei PONCAMs and HKS cam gears... The next bit is the manifold but i'm waiting for the turbine unit to go... and i'll consider the cost of a uprated turbine kit (T78 maybe) against the cost of a stock turbine with HKS manifold....

The Poncams are 260 degrees duration with 10.7/10.2 lifts.. any idea how much power this would produce?

260?? The lift seems more than the HKS I cant recall but we are using HKS 264I and 272E. Looks like a big turbo

Its about the same with the HKS ones... and these just drop straight in.... hmm.. maybe i should go for the tomei cams instead... Tomei isnt that popular in the US issit? I've never seen any threads or comments on them...

BTW, if any of you guys are insterested in getting some Jap parts.. let me know...
