Any more info on XFlashTuner?
Shiv,
Do you have any more details on the XFlashTuner module? How will it work? Will it be permanently installed in the car or will it interface to the ECU and update the tables there? Can you list all the features in detail, i.e. logging, user uploadable maps for certain setups, etc.? What will the Application on the PC be able to do besides update the fuel, timing, and boost? Will there be an additional cost to current XFlash customers?
Here is what I would like from an engine-management system. I autox and do track events. For autox, I would like to run the stock timings and fuel tables and leave in my stock intake so I can obviously run stock class
. But for track event driving schools, I want to be able to run a map for an intake with more aggressive timings and fuel tables
. I want to be able to switch back and forth when ever I want without having to send it back or pay additional costs for a reflash. Logging and DTC management would be sweet too, maybe even a few gauges that could sample some OBDII sensors in real time. I'm not a tuner looking to come up with my own maps
so Xede would be more than I would ever need. I would just be loading all the preset tables which would be a waste.
So who else is in my position as far as engine-management system needs?

The only X-Flash info is dynocharts and drving impressions which I do appriciate. But the abilities of X-FlashTuner are what I am looking for. There is no discussion of that on the boards or Vishnu's website. The quote below from Vishnu's website is the only info available:
"XFlash is fully compatible with the soon-to-be-released XFlashTuner adjustment module (available in Spring 2004) which will provide users the ability to induce real-time fuel, ignition and boost adjustments."
Can anybody provide some info???
Actually, just looking through the Vishnu website, I came across this product for the WRX,
http://www.vishnutuning.com/parts_wrx.htm#remappedecu. It appears to be similar to XflashTuner's abilities. Is this what XflashTuner will be?

Is the XEDE legal for Stock autox events? Sounds like you just want the map switching available via the XEDE...
Btw, how can the SCCA tell if your ECU has been reflashed for more aggressive timing and whatnot?

Technically XEDE is not allowed in stock class. But if you turn it off or make it inactive, nobody should have a problem.
As far as flashing, nobody is really gonna care unless you start winning. And for 30 extra hp to make a difference in autox, you really would need to be a good driver. They would either have to hear about it through word of mouth or maybe even on a forum
. If somebody was really gonna be **** and let's say you were at nationals and won, then they could inspect your car how ever they want. They could check your timings with OBDII compared to another set of Evos. Or if someone had a reader, they could compare the checksums of the images. But again, you would have to be winning and I don't think the Evo is the class leading car in A Stock at the national level.

I'm hoping it comes more along the line of COBB's AccessPort Tuner that is scheduled for release very shortly. And at $555 it is the best deal I've ever seen on this stuff.

I hope this is what Shiv and Brett and all the guys at Vishnu are going to bring us

, especially for the cost. Just half the features of the COBB would be enough for me
.So is there any reason why more information cannot be said about the XFlashTuner? Are the details still that uncertain?
I'm interested in this product as well. Any new info out there yet other than this?
"1) XFlash is fully compatible with the soon-to-be-released XFlashTuner adjustment module (available in Spring 2004) which will provide users the ability to induce real-time fuel, ignition and boost adjustments. This allows users to “custom-tune” their specific car and well as induce the necessary mapping changes for high octane race gas, low boost valet mode, etc., While not as supremely tunable or flexible as our fully-programmable XEDE engine control system, the XFlashTuner is very effective, easy to use and requiring little or no tuning experience."

Shiv?
Some more detail would be great, I just moved to a place where the local stations sell race gas, would love to be able to switch Maps to run the higher octane without the use of the Xede since I'm only running stage 1 and don't need the higher boost control that Xede provides.

Smanders, I am totally with you on your requirements for engine management!
Basically, I want the ability to switch between maps. The Dynoflash sounds enticing - but the thing is it's a one shot deal and if you ever change anything you'd need to reflash again. With map changeability that wouldn't be a problem, granted that any downloaded map would be a little more conservative than a custom dynotune.
And I love the idea of being able to flash back to stock, assuming that will be an option.
I'm currently using an SAFC, but the lack of ignition timing control/logging is just really bugging me. I want something new, but I'm not terribly inclined to tune it myself. Seems like reflashes are the way to go now.
*patiently awaiting new information*
