Can someone please recommend a Downpipe for me. I've been looking at the HKS or the Helix. I currently have the 3inch HKS exhaust. I've heard ppl say that the Helix is good, but others have said that it rubs the frame. Would the HKS make the same power as a full 3inch down pipe?

The biggest differences between various DPs is wheter they have the misnamed "O2 delete" or not. Besides that, the only differences are going to be in weight, fit and price. I seriously doubt that there is more than a tiny difference in actual performance from the whole lot of them. Although the "O2 delete" and the configuartion of the wastegate exhaust might make a difference, I doubt that anything else will.....

BTW, Boost Solutions has a variety of options for downpipes.......

A 3" dowpipe that doesn't rub against the frame? Hmm.... I know of one

And it's got a flex joint and a removable cat as well

Should've bought a Vishnu exhaust.

Wow, 15 ppl on saturday? What are the start and end times? I don't know much about scheduling times for that type of dyno, but if it's even remotely like the dynopack, it's gonna take at least 3 hours to just set up and take down 15 cars on the dyno..... (and that's working very hard!) That leaves about 7 hours from a 10 hour day to run and/or tune 15 cars without even taking a lunch break . This is gonna be a brutal day for Shiv

The wheels don't have to come off, you can have the car up on the dyno getting the pull going in about 5-10min. That's why this dyno is SO much better. I will NEVER go back to a dynapack after seeing this dyno.

Cool, that's better Still though, even at 5 minutes per car it works out to 1.25 hours just to get the 15 cars on the dyno.... I guess the dyno pulls and data recording would not take much time, but correct me if I'm wrong, it seems that any type of dyno tuning is going to take more than just a few minutes.....
Anyway, I don't care as long as I get a chance at a dyno pull and to get together with the rest of the EVO ppl

Hey Andrew, can you put me down for a "Dyno Day" instead of on the fence?

Thanks.

Also, would running 100 octane on the OEM ECU be a moot point or will I actually see any gains?

Information Update

Shiv's still pretty busy and has not been able to contact me, but I did get to talk Brett at Vishnu and have been in contact with Andrew at Dyno4mance throughout this week, so we're ready to go forward. Here's some more information regarding the event:

Vishnu at Dyno4mance: Southeast dyno tuning weekend- Saturday, May 15th and Sunday, May 16th

Pricing (There are two phases of this):

1) Dyno time for EVERYONE (including power pulls) is $100. This cost is payable to Dyno4mance at the event and includes usage of the wide band O2. It also includes food, as Dyno4mance will be grilling out on Saturday for all participants. You'll also have access to your dyno run graphs immediately, and Andrew (Dyno4mance) will upload a short video of your run on his website!

2) Custom tuning from Vishnu will be $200/hour. You will need to call the shop and arrange/set this up sometime in advance to the day. (925) 924-9800. Please let me know when you are paid up, so I can update the master list. In Dallas, there were only two cars out of eleven that went over that (one hour) time, and they had mechanical issues (ie: cam gear degreeing, installation problems, etc.) Please see this as incentive to have your car ready to run when your time comes on the dyno. If you are doing work at the event prior to your runs, please understand that you cannot have a morning slot. ****Also at this event, Shiv (and possibly MP5 and myself if needed) will be able to update your XEDE to the new firmware onsite, according to Brett****

In summary, that's $300 combined for a custom tune from Shiv himself on a very high tech Dyno Dynamics system that is virtually identical to the one in his home shop. In my experience, this is one heck of a great deal! Also, we'll have a great time socializing together and celebrating Andrew's new shop. And if anyone gets a wild hair in the evening, I've heard there is an 1/8th mile dragstrip right across the street from the shop.

Organization:
I'm ready to start scheduling time slots, so please PM me if you have any special needs or there is a day you'd prefer. Realize that at this point, its loosely based off of sign up order (Except I'll probably move to Sunday), and after that, I'm going to do the scheduling according to need, vehicle, and travel. For those of you who are coming for power pulls only (no tuning), please be patient, as will fit you into the lineup throughout the day as time allows.

Also, this is going to be a two day event, so let me know if you'd consider running on Sunday or if that is impossible. If you want to sign up, you're going to need to do it pretty quickly, as I'm about to open this event to our turbo/all wheel drive brethren over at NASIOC, as Vishnu has many Subaru customers as well.

We can take a MAXIMUM of 12 cars for tuning and three scattered power pulls on Saturday. At this point, I'd like to have 10 cars for tuning maximun on Sunday and two regular (test) pulls.

Installation/prep work:
Dyno4mance will provide installation/inspections (ie:cam gears) for a reasonable cost to you if needed. Please call Andrew to arrange this and explain to him what you require. (706)602-8881 Check out his website! There is also a map to the shop itself on here. http://www.dyno4mance.com

Lodging:
Wingate Inn, Dalton, GA. (Approximately 15 minutes from the shop.) Exit 333 from I75. Approx ~$65/evening. Call (706)272-9099

Contact:
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me on my cell phone at I will do what I can to help you out.

-Seth
