2.3L Toda stroker?

Shiv, whats your take on the Toda 2.3 liter stroker kit? I wasn't sure if Captain horsepower had that one on his car . . .

The reason i ask is because after speaking with Brett on the phone yesterday . . . ive come to the realization that wanting more horsepower (more than Stage 1+) with minimal lag is but a pipe dream if i want to run 91-octane all the time.

Im starting to lean toward increasing my displacement, with the hope that it will spool a larger turbo quicker.

I have a Toda 2.3l kit in my car and I don't recommend it. The pistons are great but the rods are stock 4G64. They look to be even weaker than the stock Evo rods. I wound up using Pauter rods instead of the Toda rods which added about $900.00 to the cost of an already pricey kit. The crank is a stock 4G64 crank that can only handle about 7600rpm. Pass on this one.

Take a look at Jun or Tomei. Or better yet call someone who makes their own kits like Boost Solution, Magnus, Automotosports, etc.

A stroker is awesome. On 91 octane my car puts down 420 whp and 400 ft/lbs of torque (4wd dynojet) with a conservative tune. Bottom line: Is a stroker kit a good investment IMO? YES. Is Toda worth the money? NO WAY!

I wonder if this one will be worth buying. Is there any particular stroker kit thus far that Vishnu recommends?

I haven't seen Deck make a kit but I've watched Tomei make them and it is all forged billet made in their own shop. Really quality stuff.

WOW, If any reputable shop like shivs gives the thumbs up to tomei or jun, then that is the way to go.

One question though. Does the vishnu shop offer these services? I have not heard much good on stroker installs lately. I am not saying it is the shops fault either.

Honestly, we've not done enough stroker kits to be able to come to any significant conclusions. We were just commenting that the Toda kit may not be as good as it could be given the rods that they use.
