The big track at Willow does not have a skidpad that I am aware of. The Streets track at Willow has one large area that has a painted skidpad and has access to a water truck as the Fast Lane driving school that is based there uses one. Hope that helps.

If Paul and Shiv can make it here to Dyno4mance we can shove Shiv on the Dyno tuning on race gas on Friday/ Saturday as Paul gives a theory class in another area of our shop on the same day to impart some theory and also to answer any questions you may have before getting on the track..
Then Saturday evening/Sunday morning we make the 2.5 hour drive to Roebling road for a fun day at the track...
As GT35REVO said the cost at this track seems very reasonable
Any thoughts anyone?
Sounds good we will see how everything pans out

Hey Guys,
the only thing with Roebling is,

1. weekends are booked for almost the next year
2. It is over 4 hours south of Atlanta (really 4.5, even if you are moving, and a train of EVO's won't move well for long without some "attention"), and Dyno4mance is 45 minutes north of Atlanta.

It would be over a 5+ hour drive to Roebling (306 miles each way), and they don't really have a skidpad. It is a fabulous track, and you can kind of do a skidpad on the triangle on the front straight, but it's not really ideal for a "first track." There are a few corners that can really bite you there.

Talladega Gran Prix is just over an hour from Atlanta, has a huge beautiful skidpad, MASSIVE runoff, as close to zero chance to damage a car (running counter-clockwise) as possible at a track, and more importantly, there are some weekends available. I can get it pretty cheaply, but unless we want to pay BIG for insurance, there can only be 3 "hot" on track at a time. At just over a minute per lap, 15-20 minute sessions are really enough, especially for beginners. I put a 2-way radio in every car to signal the end of a session and there is a nice grid so we can have very little cold track time. One of the nice features that seems to help people learn is that you can see the entire track from the grid. 12 works well for a day, or we can do 2 days in a row at a bigger discount and have a solid 24.

It is quite inexpensive to rent. At 12 per day for 2 days we could do $300 per student and still make it worth everybody's while to be there.

OMG, thats cheap. If I didn't live all the way on the other side of the country I would be there. On my local rat hole of a track, they want almost $400 a day to drive a track with no run off room.

Hey, Smogrunner why am I not on the list? I posted earlier today.

Thanks

Hi Scott
Thanks for the input...It seems I underestimated the distance to Roebling road

Is Talladega just an oval? or do you use the infield also?

Maybe you will get with me and we can get this thing organized

Good question, it's not Talladega Superspeedway, it's Talladega Gran Prix. You can see the track here:

www.tgprace.com

you can see a track map and a write-up of driving an STi on this track here:

http://www.siegelracing.com/tgpsti.html

I would love to work with you on this. Give me a call whenever it's convenient for you.

Phew for a moment there I thought you were advocating that left turn only crap.....
You still need to get up here for a Dyno Dynamics Dyno Demo

Dude, give me some credit The first paragraph of the materials that I give to every student include:

"A real racecar driver, one who uses the brakes, the gearbox, and turns in both directions."

Not to offend the drag racers, but my favorite racing starts with a drag race with not 2 cars, but 22, and then keeps going 'round a track for about an hour and a half (F1).

Yep, I need to get up there. I was offered a full time position as a Performance Engineer, but we're still working out the details. When is good for you?

So do we have any idea when we are going to want to start working on the East Coast Tune and School, brought to you by Vishnu, Paul, Dyno4mance, and Siegel Racing? If we are going to do 2 days on track, it might be good for them to be either a Friday and Saturday, or a Saturday and Sunday. We would have to schedule the quiet cars for Sunday. There is an hour or two quiet time with no "race" engines. Close to stock sound levels are fine, but no monsters. Then again, we might be able to put them in the skidpad for that time....
