I currently don't have an EGT probe, but will get one in a bit. I would like to run the car at ~28 psi (peak) on either 100% denatured Alk or 75% Meth / 25% h2o (still contemplating). That said, I think the ZT2 could act as a failsafe monitoring AFRs and Boost. So now my question to folks running similar setups:

(1) What alarms have you setup ?
(2) Do you think a basic if Boost > 18 psi and AFR > 12 would suffice ? (I thought about adding TPS in the mix, but thought it would be redundant.)

Thoughts?

Thoughts are that part throttle driving would set the alarm off which is why I advised you to add TPS%>.

i believe you should only go 100% meth, do not mix that with water. if you are going to use alky, mix that with water.
plus, for me, meth is sooo much cheaper. i get it for $2.87/gal

i did my ZT-2 settings for >22psi, >95% TPS, >12.0 afr. the alarm sometimes goes off in first or second gear pulls (hits 12.1-12.2) when it was tunned for 11.5 afr on 3rd gear.

i suggest that you wire in only the alarm at first, to see how often it goes off.

You are able to hit more than 22 psi in first gear? What peak boost are you running in higher gears? What load cells are you hitting in 1st and 2nd gear and could the AFR be richened in those gears? I had not thought about 1st and 2nd gear leaner AFR -- thanks!

so in regards to buying a alchy kit without failsafe if you have zt-2 is a good idea?

Also, what would be needed to run the zt-2 as a failsafe?

Just the ZAVT-1?

I already have the zt-2, boost solenoid, and pocketlogger w/pda
