Meth on track days?

I plan to run my car at 2-3 track days a year. I was wondering if a standard meth kit on a EVO IX with stock turbo & bolt ons will use too much meth durring a 15-20 minute run session. I'd like to set my car up for meth, but dont want to run out on a single session. I don't mind refilling in between, but I know driving th car hard will use a lot of meth. Is this a problem I am likely to run into when on the track with meth.

Thanx, Andy

Yes, this could very likely be an issue. The one setup I have seen used that looked best and should work out ok was a dual tank setup. Each tank was 1 gallon and the tanks along with the pump were mounted on the seat back cover in the trunk. The two tanks had the hose feed out of the bottom and run into a Y connector before going to the inlet side of the pump. On a 15-20 minute run, I would think you could come close to using that up. Another thing to make sure of is to use the smaller nozzle with the kit. The meth kit I had contained a 375mL and a 600+ mL (can't remember actual size). The 375mL nozzle used with 50/50 water/meth mix was good enough to give me an extra 26whp and 22wtq with only exhaust, fuel pump, intake, LICP and mbc. Keep reading up on the forums and I'm sure you should be able to find more info...or someone that does it will hopefully chime in soon for you. Hope that helps.

A dual tank setup is not out of the question if there is no chance of running out under track day session conditions. If not, I would need a setup that I can turn off, but I would think that I would have to re tune the car every time I wanted to run without meth. That would be a pain.

I recently had an HFS-5 installed, and took it to the track the other day. During one session, I used only about 2 liters of juice. The track in question, Texas Motorsports Ranch in Cresson, is very technical, and using WOT on my car is just not an option for a lot of the course.

I've been on other courses where I could see going through my entire 6l bottle in a session. YMMV. After my first session, I ended up turning off my WI system and ran the car at wastegate pressure.

If you have a laptop, it's not a PITA to swap maps...and you don't have to get retuned every time. All you do is download ECUflash, buy a tactrix cable (from computer to OBD-II port) and save the current map to your computer; then once you get tuned for meth, save that one as well to your computer and name them accordingly. Then once you decide you want to drive around without meth, simply connect the computer, swap maps, and your go to go. I can swap mine in about 10 minutes...and that includes turning my computer on and off.

With a #8 and a #4 nozzle on an HFS-5 kit, I used about 2/3 to 3/4 gallon in a 20 minute session at Summit Point Shenandoah Circuit (tight technical track).

I didn't know you could save & swap maps on a laptop without using some sort of expensive program & or having to go through a bunch of BS to do it. Sounds like the way to go if I run into issues with running out of meth in a single session, or just to change maps for diffrent driving conditions. Maybe even one for race gas I'll have to check that out. Is it a pain to turn off the Aquamist system, or is it pretty straight forward.

If you check some of the threads on this forum you can see various 2 and 3 tank setups that would provide you with plenty of meth for a 20 minute session and then there is also the suggestion of swapping maps...pick up a tactrix cable and use your laptop or a friends and your good to go...

I'll probrobly get a 2 tank setup & the tactrix cable. Even if I don't run out of meth, I'd like to have a race gas map. Thanx a ton for the info.

Nope, theres a button on the DDS3 gauge........provided you mount the gauge where its within reach.

Sounds perfect. I just wish it was as easy to get the money to do it as it is to get all the info needed to make the decision to go with it. Oh well soon enough. Thanks again for all the great help.

Is it harder to pass tech inspection with the meth in your trunk or is it kinda of one of those things that they just dont check. I am really on the fence if i want to do meth kit as well i also track quite abit.
