Today i will look into what happened to my car...

a shep rebuilt transmission is $895 - http://www.sheptrans.com/catalog.php...&cat=EVO&id=11

a shep rebuilt transfer case is $350 - http://www.sheptrans.com/catalog.php...%20TCASE&id=14

Hopefully that is all....but there is probably going to be broken parts that are gonna need to be replaced as well.....This sucks ***!!!!

All i can say is that the car had 200+ drag launches on it and 47k miles before anything major like this happened...not to shabby....

I am lucky in the aspect that the actual casing for the transmission and transfer case are still intact so i don't have to go out and purchase them brand new....no oil spills, no metal on the track, nothing....everything is internal and stayed there...i can twist the drive shaft and the wheels turn....but its really stiff....

As to what actually happened....i really don't know....I staged, I launched and made it through 1st gear just fine....went to shift into second and nothing....it felt like i missed the gear....but after trying a few times to get it to go after that it was just making loud griding sounds trying to move forward....and popping sounds when moving forward with the steering wheel turned...

That really sucks Alain! The Civic is available if you need transportation until your Evo is back up and running.

At some point I'd like to do this upgrade to Andrea's Evo:

damn, that sucks

still like you said, 47k is quite a bit to get out of the stock trans, esp considering the power your making & the fact you prob launch your car harder than any of us.

hit me up if you need a hand, tools, trans jack etc.....

Its the cross member....but it somewhat resembles the shape of the letter K so some of us call it the k frame....

Thanks Charlie for the quick how to on the sub-frame

now my findings...

Drag racing + 5.5k clutch dumps + 47k miles/200+ drag launches = a blown t-case

My ACD portion of the T-case....everything looks good....

The other half of the transfer case....looking good...

The LSD....looks good.....but looks can be deceiving...

Here is the top off the LSD....hmm...metal shavings....

And the carnage begins...

dont get too bummed, look at the bright side.......

if the ring & pinion went it would have been almost a grand more

if the ACD or Case/housing were damaged you could have been looking at 12-2700$ to cover a new T/C on top of the price for any upgrades

when your done you'll have a nice strong T/C, no more 5th gear grind & its a nice opportunity to get the longer 4th gearset from the VIII

Who is in the market for a water-meth kit? Al, from DynoFlash, is selling a complete Aquamist water-meth kit:

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=298667

Al offers installations, and will do so for those out-of-towners as well. I just talked to him, and he said for $1800 ($800 for the kit and $1000 for installation/tuning) he would fly to San Diego and install the kit. He said it takes him about 12 hours to do the install and tuning. I will definitely be pursuing this in the next month or two, and would like to know if any of you would be interested.

Al needs 3-4 weeks notice to plan the trip. If I am the only one having him do the install, then he will arrange dyno tuning events up in LA to partially cover his travel costs. He would require a $500 downpayment and the remainder upon install.

Whose down?

Ive got a partially used 2d system for sale cheap..... retails for over 900 but ill let it go for 500. pump was installed for total of about 2-3 months & saw minimal use in that time. ive lost some of the jets (can be replaced for roughly 20$ each) & the BSP 1/8" tap (prob another 20$)

since i ended up triggering it with the EMS only the pump, pressure switch, & some wiring was used. most of the parts have never even taken out of the bag.

comes with pump, high speed valve, pump pressure & tank level failsafes. pressure activation switch, FIA2 to trigger the HSV via injector duty & all related relays & wiring

lol, my bad! those were remains of a helical diff right? so its on 05?

thats actually the same route i went, the longer 1st is really nice, i didnt notice much of a change in 5th though.

one thing that i wasnt expecting was the Quaife added about 20 lbs to the T/C (granted it was an 03 W open diff)

also, the new input shaft/1st gearset required some gentle sanding/cleaning of the splines to allow the clutch disc to slide smoothly. prob just the fact i was using a new clutch disc on a new input shaft, but still something to check before tossing the trans up
