Owch!...... you would think that we own sports cars or something.

Good thing is that it should go down as the car gets older

Haha yeah, I expected it to cost this much. When I registered it from Cali to NV it was over $650.
I didnt think I would have to smog it though.

^Not so true, when I registered mine in '04 they used a MSRP of $28,xxx.00 and in '05 they raised the MSRP to $31,xxx.00 so using the depretation scale they used, my car was $7.00 more expensive to reg in '05 than in '04....gotta love those fluxuating MSRP's....

That sucks! But, NV law says that you have to somg it on the 3rd registration on new model year cars. Wont have you smog mine till 2010. Great thing about being in the mil is no property tax for non residents!

yellp,

I nearly choked when i got my renew card for my MR, $525.

Paid $700 the first year brand new.

Im from chicago where car registration is like 1/3 what it costs in nv, but other taxes are higher so i guess it evens out.

yah my experience has always been it dropping down..like it has every year since 00' with my Jeep. My Evo was also Much cheaper for 07...i have yet to get my 2008 one.

Hope they didnt screw you with that higher MSRP...because that just dont sound right. Even the DMV makes mistakes.

The NV DMV has there own process of deciding the MSRP amount, and I think they saw the price hike in the cars from '03 to '05 and decided to charge everyone the MR sticker price...
