I sold my nine block for like 1200, only thing wrong with it was rod bearings were bad. Cost me 70 bucks to ship it to buschur where the guy that bought it was having it stroked. You can find good deals on blocks right here on evoM, when I sold mine that was about the going rate for a block that needs a rebuild.

If you go with a 4g64 wes, those are normally destroked to a 2.3. Would probably be a good option. You can go to 2.1 like James, but it all depends on what you want to do with the car. 2.3 cant rev as high as a 2.1 or built 2.0, the piston speeds reach f1 levels and thats kind of pushing it hehe. Hence the reason the AMS 2.3rr is so expensive, they use some lightweight aerospace shiz in that to get it to rev out.

Most road racers opt for the 2.2, either by the super expensive cosi crank in a 4g63 block, or GSC just came out with a kit as well. Thats what Nils is running right now, the GSC crank/rods/pistons. Can ask him what he thinks.

Made initially 20more whp and 30tq with just the IX turbo swap alone. (same dyno same day same boost) and I get 26psi at 3600rpm as opposed to like 5500 on the VIII turbo. that was nice but surprising. That is also my peak tq.
Anyway, after several runs my coil packs went to crap. New plugs lasted only a handfull of runs and the misfires returned.
so.
Anyone have a set of good VIII coil packs? Need them asap as I can get this thing on e85 tonight if I get some coils today.
LMK, and thanks everyone!

Your stock 8 turbo didnt make 26 psi till 5500 rpm? something was way wrong man..

thanks ******* you were supposed to help me out does a ix block work with a viii head? I know stupid question.. As soon as I see if heads ok or not then I'll see what Vesko can do to help me out first & give me advise too before I start stressing & looking around all over. I really don't want to be down without a car for months n months and of course doing it right & at a reasonable price too. Yes a 2.2 is what most road racers use in there rides but you know a 2.3 would be good for the street too just be nice to snag some more torque since I don't have mviec like you haha but if anyone sees something that would be an option for me pass me the info I appreciate it as I'm open to all ideas right now

Yea, according to the sheets from last night. I think there was a boost leak or somthing that. I'm seeing 26psi at 3600 now. Problem is, I changed the coil packs and no difference. any boost level above 22 and the thing breaks up when the boost comes on. Maybe the wires? If the VIII and IX wires are the same I guess I can swap my wifes car and see what happens.

the ix block is different and would have to be modified to make it work with the evo 8 head. If you want to do a 2.3, ask trev for the 2.4 crank, then all you need is some rods and pistons. I believe I have 3 of them, 1 got damaged.

the wires will work for both 8 and 9, but the boots on the coil are different. You can swap them though, they pop right off. Just make sure your 8 ones are good and that is not causing your misfire issue.

25 but I just put in a new set with my wifes IX wires and boots, Carlos's stock coil packs from his VIII and gapped these fresh plugs to 24. Going for a test ride in just a minute. the boot sits up a bit on the VIII with IX boots, but the IX drives fine with the VIII boots and wires. We'll see. Really like the IX turbo more then I thought I would. Hope it all works out soon. Would like to know what it runs at the track on E85 before it gets too hot out. But that means I need to buy tires too. LOL
