Avoid front window tint and a loud pipe and you should be fine, but it depends what region you are in. Where I am at, I have never even gotten a sideways look from a cop since I don't drive like an ***. Other areas, you get pulled over and ticketed for the stock pipe

First, i'd like to say I don't drive like an idiot, I abide the speed limits (+/- 10 on the freeways..like everyone else) and im not a jaskas on the streets...

Im 5 minutes from Lake Forest...currently living in Irvine actually....have a home in RSM. I've been pulled over for my greddy ti-c, sold it now have a stock exhaust with downpipe and testpipe....cops dont hassle me anymore.

Also been pulled over for tint in the same area, didnt get a ticket but still a hassle.

And last but not least, got pulled over by chp going 5 north right at lake forest exit (ironic haha) made me pull into the gas station and said he pulled me over for modified tail lights....funny thing is these were stock 9 tails, no paint, no tint...pure stock. i was ticked.

basically, be careful, dont drive like you stole it and if you see a cop just slow down and dont get on the gas

I can't speak for the southland, but nano seems to know the area.

I am lucky to live in an area where half the couples seem to be a white guy and an asian girl, so they are used to seeing a white dude in a riced-out car (because, let's be honest here, even a stock IX like mine looks a little rice)

I think much of the issues people have in Ca. are caused by either stupid behaivor or cop profiling. I am an old guy with a heavy right foot and don't get 'hassled'. There are a ton of fast cars in the Irvine area -- just keep the car clean (stickers seem to attract attention for some reason) and fairly stock in appearance, relatively quiet, and don't drive like an idiot and you'll be fine. (FWIW cars that look heavily modified - tons of carbon, stickers, really low, loud exhausts, black windows tend to get hassled.)

Well it really is easy to do yourself or there are several local tuners that could do it for you...No idea how you are tuned now (what boost, timing , and AFR curves), but it is an easy adjustment and your car will feel relatively the same (again depending on how aggressive your current tune)....

Feel free to PM me and I'd be happy to help...

if you are planning to be in cali longer than one year i believe you have to get it registered. I live in san francisco, and cops are no freaking joke. They've pulled me over a few times, even made me pop my hood to look for illegal parts! Keep it registered in florida!

I had a 350z back in the day with tinted windows, driving down Santa Monica Blvd near the 405 coming from the dealership where I'd just bought a front license plate bracket.

Car had vegas plates on it, front windows were tinted lightly (legal in vegas). Cop pulls me over and gives me a ticket for the tint and the lack of the front plate even though I had the holder + the receipt.

Had a dc sport catback, got a fix it ticket for that.

The state is broke. Municipalities are broke. They're ticketing for everything that they legally can. CHP is everywhere. I drive about 90 miles from LA into the IE every week and its definitely gotten worse.

Also remember, if you're tuned, we only have 91 octane out here at most pumps, with a few 100 octane pumps here and there...
