Just got pulled over.......
Well I just got pulled over on my lunch break. I had just finished pumping gas and was making a right turn onto the main street. I got up to regular speed shifting at 2.5k and just cruising at 45 mph in 5th gear when I saw flashing lights from a bike behind me. I wasn't speeding or anything, just smoking a cig before I got back to work taking it easy. He told me right away that he was pulling me over for a modified exhaust. For a bike cop he was super cool and just wrote me a fix it ticket for the exhaust and let me go. I thought he was going to be a dick and ask me to pop the hood but he didn't.
So now what do I do? I'm pretty lightly modded. I have a tune, catless TBE, MBC, walbro, ETS 3.5'' FMIC with LICP & UICP, and ETS intake. I really don't want to get rid of my exhaust because I love everything about it but I don't know what to do about the ticket. I'm running a Megan downpipe, RRE test pipe, and HKS carbon-ti cat back. Is there anything I can do to keep the noise level down and still run the carbon-ti? This is my first exhaust ticket so I'm confused on what I should do, all comments and opinions are welcome.

man i would keep it on. i have gotten 2-3 tickets for repairs and i never do them. paid way to much for my exhaust to go and fix them. i go back to the station and say i did and thats about all. but i dont how your state works man. wv is easy
i use a mil.spec hfc and its the closest you will probably get to being catless. Never had any police troubles id try that. Plus you can actually buy just the cat and have it welded right into your test pipe. thats just my .02
Yeah but CA from what I hear are the biggest d bags in the US when it comes to exhaust and mods.
Here in colorado where I am the cops don't really seem to care, the only thing i've ever been pulled over for is a burnt out license plate light, I even got a verbal warning after getting pulled over for 51 in a 30.

pop the hood for what? Are they certified to inspect your vehicle?
I guess they can impound it if they want just to ****s with you.
Go back to stock rear and get a QTP downpipe with electronic cut-out...open up some whoop *** at the push of a button, stealth otherwise.
Good Luck

Yeah I'm thinking about going with a high flow cat. Anyone from socal care to chime in about this. My ticket shows that it's a correctable violation, not sure what the code means? VC 27151...
Corretable violation means you put on your oem cat back for a few hours and drive to the chp stationso they an sign off your ticket. Then you pay 20 for processig and that's it. Or you can choose not to correct and keep your exhaust the way it is and pay the entire fine. Don't know what it would be off hand but I'd imagine it's at least 300
read the title, and was like, this guys from CA...
does it say correctable, or non?
If Im wrong, please correct me, but I believe you have 2 options...
1. put the stock exhaust/cat, back on, take it to the courthouse, and have them write it off as corrected. You'll have to pay a small "court fee" should be ~ 10- $20... It should be like a tint ticket...
Or you can just pay the ticket which should be signifigantly higher, than the court fee...
You should consider yourself lucky, he didnt make you pop the hood, and send ya to the ref...

Putting a cat on wouldn't help in this situation unless you're trying to control noise. If that's the case just run a quieter cat back. Seriously, he was a bike cop, so how could he tell if you had a cat or not?
Do what nonschlont said and put the stocker back on to get out of the ticket for cheap.

Thanks guys!
So I should put the stock exhaust back on and have them test it? Should I not even try to put a cat and go in with the carbon-ti? I wonder if I put the stock CBE on to sign off the ticket will it affect my tune in any way?
