Hey guys, I'm new here and looking for my first Evo. I'm trying to find an 06 or newer. I noticed that you were talking about the difficulties of selling them. If you guys know of any for sale (besides whats on KSL), let me know. I've been approved at the bank, I just need to find the car I want.

I saw your car on KSL and on here. Looks way nice, I'm trying to decide if I want to buy a modified one or a mostly stock one. This would technically be my daily driver, so I don't want to get something that would have too much downtime. Are you buying a house? That was the most unpleasant experience of my life, the banks really put you through the wringer these days.
yea its stupid all the stuff they require now. The KSL add may not be fully up to date so check my add in my signature, my car is mostly stock with just a set of cams and a full exhaust i used it as a daily driver for the last 2 years

Hell yeah ^ Save that money. You won't regret it. '06s are a PITA to find in good condition for a decent price. There are no 07s and the Xs are the 08+ models (unless you want a X).

You aren't kidding, everybody wants 20k+ for the 06. I'm not a big fan of the way the Xs look. The main reason I want the 06 is because of the MIVEC and the front LSD. I'll admit that I don't know that those are that big of a deal once I start modifying, but again I am trying to keep it relatively stock (at least for a while). I'm still trying to figure out what I want to do. Thanks for the help

I don't think that particular LSD was all that good ... and ... if you know how to put in a good set of cams, the first rendition of that MIVEC head really doesn't play all that much better than the VIII heads. A good and well taken care of VIII is as much of a fun car as the IX. Again if I had the choice between an '06 for 20k and a X for say 24k, I'd take the X.
The X has always been better looking being right there, then from photos. I don't know why they look so much better in person ... perhaps its the darth vader nose plus the focal length of modern cameras, I digress.
The X has a lot of the upgrades you'd end up doing to a 9, and imho a much better chassis for wide tires, suspension tuning, a better bore and stroke, turbo, and Dual MIVEC anyways.
If I had to get a VIII I'd seriously look at something like Timmay's, if I really wanted a front LSD, I'd get a unit from RRE or Shep. Plus I'd rebuild properly the rear LSD anyways. That's about 3k on a bad day.
So ...
Timmay's Evo VIII for 13k + 3k for LSD mods = 16k
or Evo X for 24k
or Evo IX for 20k + 3k LSD mods (again) = 23k (basically X price)
The math says get peeps to drop the price on an IX, get the VIII, or spring for the X.
If I were in your shoes right at this very moment, and knowing what I know, I'd go for the X as a killer Daily Driver (sorry Timmay). If I was looking at a fun race-type car, I'd spring for Timmay's VIII.
