Debt free is the way to be! That's why the STi stays mod free (except the few things I've done now, not counting the wheels which I still regret) until it is paid off!! Double and triple payments FTMFW!
You're getting lowballs on 14k?!?!
I can see the other stuff, that's just the nature of trying to sell a car like this... I got those when I had mine up for sale too. Crappy trade offers and TONS of flakes (especially the younger crowd who "wanted to buy it, but had to get approved first")

You should totally be a dick back, at least... I hate people who lowball like crazy. You want to offer 11k for a 14k car, sure, go ahead, doesn't mean I'll accept it, but you don't look too much like an idiot (unless my price says "firm")... You want to offer some super low value and a pos trade? Gtfo.
Reminds me of Bullfrg's old (still new) Tilton clutch I'm trying to get rid of. "Still" worth 1.7k new. I want 1.2k to 1.3k which I 'think' is below manufacturer cost. I am willing to hit something below that if somebody can give me a really good reason.
To top it off I spent an extra 150 for a brand new long spline cera disk, which is an upgrade to this clutch.
I also understand that via purchase of a flywheel and new hydraulic bearing kit this guy can go on almost anything else, including a Subie.
I've had four peeps offer me like 700 for it because they "drag race" or peeps want the "800ft*lb" carbon version because of their "built" car. So they try to convince me that since its not carbon (its 740ft*lb advertised from Tilton) they're going to burn it up.
800ft*lb at 6000rpm is like what ... 900hp and at 7000rpm is around 1000hp? I think the formula is (torque * rpm / 5252). So I've got regular peeps putting together built 1000hp+ Evos complaining about the cost of a 740ft*lb clutch? Yup, I believe them as far as I can throw them. :P
Carbon can stand the slipping heat and still produce the clamping torque, but please, you won't get 80k miles out of a carbon doing grand slips, "just because its a carbon." The heat goes into ablating the disk and it wears out just like everything else that's slipped. Carbon just allows you to be more stupid for a longer period of time before it goes out spec. or just wears out.
So yes I'm frustrated with the Evo culture also, trying to lowball for their tuner car stuff, which should just be called their "t00n3r" car because they act more like loony toon cartoons than a car enthusiasts.
I suppose from a media standpoint, if its not from Promedia, it just might not be cool enough, or true enough.
I digress ... I'll keep adverting in my circles about Timmay's car, and Cript's car. Hopefully I can send somebody with a brain to them.

I think I'm going to suggest the word tuner changed to:
7 0 0 |\| 3 ^
or would tuner be better as:
7 0 0 |\| 3 /-\ ?
Thanks!

Dealing with buyers for these cars is rough, but dealing with sellers can be just as bad.
The few times I've called on mostly stock 2007 STI or Evo IXs in the past year, the owners wanted close to what it would cost to by a brand new 2011. "Just seeing what I could get for it" is an all-too-common excuse.
One guy put the car finally put the car on eBay. Max bid was significantly less than my (KBB-based) offer.

Just because somebody put in a mod worth say 1000 dollars, doesn't mean there is an installation markup, nor does the mod "stay" worth 1000 dollars. A good rule-of-thumb on modded cars is you "may" get 1/2 of what the mod is worth, and if its something that has the potential of reducing the car's life, or is a significant wear item, expect nothing for it.
Mods are also something that become very tricky and actually make it less appealing for a dealer to consider. Used cars go for KBB or NADA, and if you want to trade it in, I personally feel it probably should be stock.
I think Timmay and Cript have a pretty good idea on what fair is in terms of mods per price etc ...
0.02 again ...
