I'll get to your last comment later cuz i'm at work.
So after seeing what Cobra posted on the utahpace forum, I started thinking. What he said made some good sense. I was going to put this reply there, but he might be confused why I was replying to him I went back and pulled up those logs from before and after the timing was added, and the load before the added timing has a pretty good higher load average to it, even though the power output was lower. So the lower timing could have been creating "artificial load", which wasn't helpful for power output but was helping the turbo. Maybe.

So after going and buying springs at RSD today, I was wrong about my spring pressure. Turns out one of the springs I have is brown, not maroon (I was guessing, it could have been either) so I only have 8~ psi of spring pressure Needless to say I've picked up some more springs, so we'll see how that helps.

Tial's MV-R wastegate has -4 AN water fittings to help keep it cool in tight and/or hot installations. You don't have to use them for the wastegate to operate, but if you do it helps keep it cool. Kinda neat.

I bought springs that could take me all the way up to 21lbs of spring pressure, but I think I'll start with ~17psi and see if that works. If that helps but doesn't fix it, I'll go higher. If that fixes it, I'll leave it there, and if it doesn't help... back to the drawing board!

Will you let me know asap if this worked for you so then I can take a trip out there and by another spring if I have to, before the shoot out this weekend!

What is the reason for zeroing out the WGDC?

What can I say.....All the good technical talk is going on over there at utahpace.com

HEHEHEe....just playing. But it is much easier over there with the forum structure to talk and discuss things. We have some really knowledgeable people that are willing to talk and debate theory on things. Its great! If anyone wants to take a stab at some of my motor issue's BY ALL MEANS GET OVER THERE AND HELP ME OUT PEOPLE.

Once you register check out my WINTER LOTUS SUPER 7 build thread. See my pics and give me some feedback PLEASE.

That is all :-)

Not over boosting and having your engine go kaboom! With the added springs he doesn't know how his current wgdc will equate to actual boost so its better to start over. Maybe not zero but I would cut in half at least.

So I put the 17psi springs in, and with the wgdc zeroed I was hitting 26psi! D'oh! On the plus side, no more surge sound. I then hooked up the boost line right from the compressor, still 26psi (and no surge). Pulled the wg apart, looks like a torn diaphragm. Yay! On the bright side tial said they'll fix it.
