^ woah! that's nuts. i just had the head rebuilt but haven't touched the bottom end before on it. i was just coming out of a tight right hand corner heading towards the attitudes when it lost a little power and starting making death noises. i think i had oil slosh and the pickup went dry. i've read it's common with right hand turns. oh well. just hoping the crank is salvageable, it has half a rod bearing melted/welded to it. if i need a crank then it will just be an excuse to stroke it.
That accident is crazy! Looks like the car was almost split in half and it probably hit a pole
Yes I have heard the same with the extreme right hand turns as well.
Have you looks into getting a wet sump oil pan? Like the AMS wet sump pan? That is actually what I have been considering getting for mine.
If you go with a stroker motor what setup are you going to do since I assume you are going to do your own setup?
Thanks,
Dallin

yes definitely considered a baffled oil pan before and kicking myself for not having one now. i put one in my wrx for the same reasons. possibly want to add an accusump as well. i don't think they work spectacular, but may be enough to save it w/out going full dry sump $$$.
stroker i'm leaning towards a 2.2l (idk on company) so it will still rev high. there are a few parts on track where an extra 500-1000 rpm would be very beneficial to save a gear change.

Saw a white wingless 8 out at Millers last night. Ran the second fastest time on the autocross course. Not sure if the driver posts on EvoM but I thought I would at least say hi. I was in the red Ralliart running the course behind you.
Also we need to have another Antelope drive meet. That was a blast. John, you need to make me a Ralliart sticker. I took way too much crap from some Evo owners about the stickers so I took them off.

recommendations for pistons and rods? pulled them out last night and they do have scoring on the skirts of 2 pistons, and the one rod is shot. figure i might as well just put forged in now and not have to do it again later.
dropped my crank off to pro machine this morning. they are going to grind it and see if it can be reused. currently the bearing material has welded itself on there so they're not sure what it looks like underneath until they try it. $110 to get it done, thoughts?
going to drop off the block on monday or tuesday for cylinder hone, deck, and line bore.

Rods Eagle, BC or Carillo are the only ones I have personally used as well.
The Clegg's Machine Shop I used in Orem is the only shop that I am aware of that has a torque plate for machining 4g63/4g64 blocks in Utah
I would recommend them on that. They have done a few of the high HP motors here for the Evos.
Keep us posted on how things go.
