You want maintenance and a tune? I don't think GST tunes the Evo anymore. FFTEC does both still and seem to be doing very well for themselves lately. I had my tune touched up at FFTEC and I'm very happy with it. I do my maintenance myself except for 60K/timing belt which I had done at Speedelement. If Speedelement wasn't around I would have gone to FFTEC though.

Is speed element a good shop? I am just getting the fluids changed since I just bought the car and it also has an engine overboost problem so wanted to have someone look at that also. FFTEC seemed expensive but I am waiting for a email from gst and now speedelement.

Yeah I like Speedelement. It's nice and easy dealing with Devin. Good prices and great service. Dealt with them since I got my Evo four years ago and always been a good experience.

I'm also wondering why you are asking about shops in the SF Bay Area when your location is in Phoenix?

however i have a feeling that fftec and speed element are going to do a more thorough job.

any opinions on whether it is really necessary to pull the water pump and replace it while the timing belt is being done?
more info? This is very surprising.

If you don't get the issue sorted out before you get back to Phoenix, we'd be more than happy to help you with the overboost problem. We're about 15 minutes from the ASU Tempe campus.

Looking for a good shop

Anyone recommend a good tuning/dyno/installation shop in the San Diego area? I don't mind if I have to drive 2 or 3 hours either. I need quality work, I don't really care about the gas.

Got a pair of cams(with springs and retainers) that I need installed, tuned, and dyno'd.

If you don't mind a 2 hour drive then I would say Road Race Engineering.
