It's not new. It was there since they made the HOV lane. No one followed it so they had to make the signs bigger and the lines wider. That's how all HOV lanes are that I've ever driven in. CA is that way. In D.C. it's that way. In fact, in DC, the HOV lanes are a completely different set of lanes divided by concrete barriers. It's a safety issue, not a revenue issue. If you have cars going by slow traffic in the HOV lane, you don't want some idiot going 20 mph merging anywhere into the HOV lane where everyone is going 60 mph. You want that to happen at certain places so people in the HOV lane are expecting it. Sorry, this is one of the many things that **** me off about people who drive in UT. I not directing this at anybody in this forum because from what I know of those on this forum, everyone pays attention when they are driving. As for the rest of Utah, I can't say.

I had to cross the double line because i would have missed the exit to WVC if i would have stayed in it. Well long story short he put on the ticket that i was drivin a white 06 nissan altima, I was in the Evo and its black, WTF? oh and he put the wrong license plate number on the ticket, do you guys think i can get it dropped in court?
There is a very good possibility of getting the ticket dropped. Sure it was you driving, but the information on the ticket is wrong. Do you even own an Altima or know someone that has one? I got a ticket dropped in Mizzou partially because the information was wrong, but also because there were 7 other people that showed up to court to fight their tickets from and complain about the same cop. A buddy of mine and myself were driving back to Omaha, NE when we pulled over to the side of the road at 0230 for me to give him some CD's...no one else was on the road and hadnt seen anyone for miles. Had the cruise set at 75 when the cop pulled up. He immediately accused us of being drunk and proceeded to do FSTs on us even though I told him that I have had injuries which make it illegal for him to make me do most of the sobriety tests. After he found out that we were both 100% sober, he told us that he clocked us doing 93 in a 75 and wrote us tickets. That was despite the fact that we had been sitting there for about 5 minutes. Took his *** to court, everyone else won their cases and my buddy and I went to talk to his Sheriff, who ended up taking his badge in front of us.

Also, if someone decides to take a ticket that I issue them to court and I can't make it for some reason...they win because I am not there. So there is always the chance that you can win just by showing up. Hope that helps a bit.

I think they pry added it for those of us that hop back and forth from the HOV lane to get by traffic. And I'm sure the extra revenue doesnt hurt either.

On a side note, I was coming back from PoC the other night in the pouring rain and in the construction around Farmington, I was going around a corner and driving on the dashed white line since that was the only way i could see the road, when I hit the bump and my bike literally slid sideways to the line on the other side of my lane...****ing scared the **** out of me!!!

Lol, almost forgot...some jackass pulled out in front of me in a F350 while I was doing 53 on Main and was so close to me that my head almost hi his mirror, so I put a big *** dent in the side of his back door with my foot! ****ing jackass!

Our HOV lane really has always had the double white lines? I don't drive in it much since I'm usually alone in the car but I swear we didn't always have those. It's a seperate part of the roadway in parts of CA too, sometimes it's more than divided by concrete and is actually divided by bits of land too.

I agree completely with you Chuck (and with the fact that Utah drivers are generally idiots, point-in-case: My car's battering-rammed door), but I also think it causes huge problems in the opposite direction. Chances are they did all the research and found the problems caused by enforcing the rule more would be less than the problems before (kind of like the cement barriers, which cause devistating damage to the people that hit them, but prevent opposite directions of traffic from hitting eachother at freeway speeds). But I've seen plenty of cases of the opposite (and even, admittedly, done the opposite) traffic in HOV going 60 or less, traffic on the right moving faster, traffic in HOV not properly yielding to faster traffic (which, is another law not enforced much) and the faster traffic being forced to get over and pass on the right. Not too big of a deal without the double white lines. With them there becomes the hazard of having to hurry to pass in order to get back into the HOV before the double white lines come back, which is usually a fairly short distance. It seems to me like more and more minivans like to use the HOV lane for the "go slow" lane. And instantly move over there when they can and continue to travel in that lane indefinitely at speeds relative to that of paint drying.

You were stopped and the cop pulled you over and said you were drunk?

Cops not showing up to court ftw!

Yeah, revenue, safety, etc etc. It's always the same BS. Wish they would get off their asses and read all the reports on the reduction of accidents with increased speed limits. Since they go off of research for all the other ****.

Rain = teh suck. Especially in a POS giant Pontiac Grand Am with the world's ****tiest tires.

Did you really kick his door? haha that's awesome... Didn't happen to be an older white one with a canopy cover thing over the rear bed did it? With a giant skull on the hitch cover... My poor car wants some payback!

Yeah got pulled over for "drunk driving" while I was standing on the side of the road....it was great!

Its nice being on the winning end for something that simple. Some ******* got of the hook once cuz I had to respond to a domestic and thus couldnt make it to court to testify. Guess he lucked out.

IMHO, it is those that drive far slower than the flow of traffic that pose a greater danger than those who drive fast. Atleast from my experience, most of those that drive fast tend to pay more attention while driving than the soccer mom driving her minivan, talking on the phone, putting on her makeup, AND yelling at the rowdy kids in the ackseat while driving 30 mph slower than everyone else. Hell slow, inattentive drivers causes more accidents on base than people driving too fast and actually paying attention to what they are doing. Thats why on I80 going through Nebraska you can usually get away with doing 100-120 without being hassled. Not saying that I have ever done such a thing!

Yes I did kick his truck. By doing so, it helped me from flying off my bike and going helmet first into the POS. I didnt have enough time to actually avoid him 100%. Pulled over afterwards to ***** him out for trying to kill me and he just kept going so I went home. Lol.

Damn I was looking forward to getting some steak! And if she doesnt have a ring, she is fair game. Besides, you got a Porche and her bf pry drives a Honda!

I hate it when you're drunk driving standing on the side of the road, pisses me off!

I like being on the winning end when you actually fight too though. I'll never forget whipping out the physics to prove my dad (who got exhibition of speed ticket from the world's most bitter woman cop, and who wrote "accelerating faster than necessary" or some bs like that on the ticket) I took some good ol' kinematic equations and proved that, from the data SHE gathered, had he continued at his rate instead of being pulled over, he would've been doing 0-60 in about 30 seconds. Got a letter a few days later from the judge saying the case was dismissed. That was actually WINNING a case.

You kicked his truck and he just kept driving? Haha, what an idiot.

We can still go get steak, I just don't think she's really in the picture as much as I had hoped. She's got small ties to my group of friends and apparently she has slept with the group **** (our equivalence of Wes, basically ). And that would be a little awkward at best.

I know if she doesn't have a ring she's fair game, and I will continue trying to work on her since she talked to me so much and initiated the first conversation. Plus she's friends with one of my best friend's girlfriend, so that works out. Me having a Porsche compared to her bf's Honda doesn't matter. Especially since I have a Pontiac right now But really, I may have a Porsche, but I am a Honda, and he's probably a Porsche.

That, and long story short back in Jr High/Elementary I was really good friends with her older brother, so I knew her forever ago, and her family really well. Was really odd seeing her at 20 years old hanging out with some of my current friends actually... Really, really odd.

Sigh, look, how many times to Eric and I have to tell you guys we aren't just in it to "hit it?"

If that was the case it wouldn't matter at all, fact is if we started dating she'd be around him, and that'd be awkward.

Haha I wish I had some money right now to do anything Need a job soon the bank funds are out I might start working up at Sundance Resort as a Snowboard instructor this winter... That's like the only thing I feel like doing this winter while I work on my own thing too. Didn't get much boarding in last year due to injury and work.
