That depends if a GT35R is bigger than stock. Is it?

So, it’s long and if you aren’t interested in beating on your car with a hammer, skip this…

Did some more fitment and who ever it was that was thinking 275/35/18s, I think I'd recommend against it. Get something with maybe 10.25" of section width or less. The 275s I have are 10.9" wide, which is about the widest 275 I've seen. I was after a really aggressive tire look, but in all reality, a 255 would probably perform better by being a little lighter and having a better sidewall angle. The edge of the tire is directly above the edge of the rim, and without a curb guard, the tire actually looks a little wider then the rim. No stretched look here. I'm not trying to win any national events though, so I went with a mean looking tire. For a good street tire with the stretched look, I think I'd try the Falken Azenia RT-615 in a 245/40/18.

For fitment in the front:
I don't know how much room you would have with a normal shock and a lowering spring, but with a coil-over there is no way you are fitting a 275 in there without some fender work or REALLY "aggressive" negative camber. I have what looks to be about 2 degrees of camber and there is maybe 3/16" clearance between the tire and the coil spring. This is as close as I feel like going, as there will be some deflection in the suspension that will likely close up this gap at times. The 22mm offset is too aggressive as well. With something like a 35mm offset, you could likely get the same clearance with less camber and this would give you more camber adjustment range if you have camber plates. A 30-35mm offset 18x9.5 wheel with the 275 would put you about where you would want to be on the back side. The 22mm offset looks great though and gives you a ton of caliper clearance on these wheels. I would assume the 22mm offset uses the same mold as the 35mm offset wheels. They are likely all the same, even the 12mm offset, so you probably can't get a more aggressive (concave) spoke on the 5zigen without dropping down to the 17s.

For the fender side, you are looking at some pulling to be done. I wouldn't bother with a fender roller tool up front as the shape of the fender opening doesn't work out very well with the tool. A heat gun makes a huge difference in saving the paint and up front it's worth the effort. I hammered the lip up a bit just using some plastic tape to protect the paint and the heat gun to keep it from cracking. I used my hand to stabilize the fender some and didn't strike too hard, just took it a little at a time. I rolled up the edge to about a 45 degree angle. IMO, this really cleaned up the fender opening. From the factory, the lip sits in view; this got it out of view and made for a nice hard clean line. Mitsubishi should have done this in the first place. With the lip out of the way, on with the gloves and some careful pulling worked out pretty well. I took the springs off my shocks and then reinstalled them on the car. This allowed me to mount the wheels and raise and lower the wheel to see where there were clearance issues. In all, I had to pull the fender probably 1/4". It worked out well though and compared to the side I have not done yet, you can't really even tell, other then that there is a lot better clearance and the rim sits flush with the edge of the body. The tire can tuck up in about 3/4" before it makes contact with the fender. To get it to fully clear would take some wider fenders, and I don't think the 10mm version would be enough.

Rear:
This is where it got a little hairy. Again, a 30-35mm offset would have worked a LOT better, but Discount Tire only had the 22mm offset in stock and I was sick of waiting. I have probably 3/4" of clearance to the trailing arm. Adding 10mm on the offset would help out a ton here. It would still give you probably 1/4" of clearance, which is probably tight enough to cause a little polishing on the arm as the suspension moves around under load. Other then that, there are no clearance issues on the back of the tire.

On the fender though, the wheel stuck out ~3/8" from the fender. Again, the 10mm more offset would put you pretty much flush with the car body. I on the other hand had to roll the lip completely against the body. The roller worked great. With some careful heat gun use, most of the paint stayed in place, at first. With the lip rolled tight, I still had major clearance issues. First there is a bolt on the back edge to hold the rear bumper on, this I still have not dealt with, but I'll likely just cut it off and relocated it a bit back. The quarter panel is too thick to pull by hand, so out came the hammer again. About an hour later, the fender was out about 3/8" with only a minor ripple in the quarter panel. I was able to work most of it clean and I'll likely still put a tiny bit more work into it. The ripple happened back towards the gas fill area. I'm hoping that because the filler area isn’t on the passenger's side, it won't be an issue and it will come out nice and clean on the other side. The paint is hammered on the inside, but some rubberized undercoating should make quick work of that. The paint is fine where it is seen. Also, same thing as mentioned in the front, getting rid of the lip really cleaned up the wheel arch.

RECAP:
Get smaller tires!
Get 30-35mm offset wheels when using 9.5"s.
Other wise, hope you are comfortable using a hammer and making permanent "damage" on your car. I am, so mean *** 275s on some aggressive offset wheels worked just fine.

Now, of course, I haven't driven this yet, so they might still rub like crazy. I have 10k/14k coil-overs though and I'm going to give it about 1" of clearance from the fender to the top of the tire. I think the springs will be stiff enough to keep it off the fenders in all but the roughest turn and bump scenarios. Even then though, the lip is out of the way enough that I don't think it will cause any damage to the tire and the metal will flex enough to prevent damage to the body work.

I run a +22mm 17x9.5 on my car and stretch a 245 tire and it barely fits! That is crazy that you "made" the 275's work on that offset. Post up some pics.

I do like it a lot, but I am going to get something I also want and will be a little more funtional for me. A two seater convertable is the best thing to drive around all the time.

Hey dose anyone have any stock 8 or 9 wheels that they dont want? I am looking for some and would prefer the 9 wheels. I am having a hard time finding wheels for my car that fit like the 9 wheels I have. I have tryed a few wheels and they just don't fit that well. So I would just like some Stock wheels if anyone wants to sell them.

We will see, it's kind of like driving around with a big "ricer" tag on my forehead. It really depends on how much track time I do during the summer.

So Brandon and I had a little talk about your new car are you stoked? How much are you wanting to sale the S2K for?
