Topeka, for SCCA nationals, unless I'm mistaken about Riley and he decided to come there for school instead of Cali...
And beer pong will live on forever, that's like saying X car is only an old man car, or only a teenager car. (however, I am the firm believer that there are cars that should only be driven by girls)

ahaha lol Yikes Topeka! I think a few guys from midwestevos.com are plannign a trip for that event in our autoX section.

You picked the wrong guy's dad Riley, course I could see him playing beer pong, when he's not busy with work or something he's playing counter strike. He wouldn't play only because he's not the type to get want to get drunk.

Evo owner friend has suspension Q
Hey all,
A buddy of mine just picked up a 2006 EVO from Ken Garff in downtown the other week. He traded in his Mini Cooper S. He is an old Porsche autocrosser from the early 70's. He loved the handling of his Mini. A minor complaint he has with the EVO at the limit is bodyroll. He says that the EVO is a little harsher stock than his stock Mini was on daily driving roads. I mentioned to him that bodyroll is easy to fix with some key components. So far, I've told him that a rear sway bar is the biggest single suspension improvement. The next would be lowering springs. His concern is that the ride would get harsher. He doesn't have the budget for sweet adjustable coilovers, so some nice 1"-2" (max) lowering springs would be up his alley.
He doesn't have a computer at home, so he doesn't have much time to get on forums. He's in his late 50's I believe, so he's not super internet savvy. I'm an EVO nut that helped introduce him to the EVO. He hadn't even heard about it a year ago. I lent him my Best Motoring EVO DVD and all my Sport Compact Car magazines with sticky notes for EVO articles, etc. We finally went for a test drive in August and that was the end of him!
I told him the EVO people in Utah get together (at least I remember there being some get togethers once in awhile??) and said I'm sure one of these guys with a lowered EVO would be happy to take him for a ride so he could get a feel for a lowered EVO.
His name is Dean and his email is dean.nielson@zevex.com. Anyone willing could simply email him and give feedback on what suspension tweaks you've done and how it has impacted the ride quality and handling, etc. He'd love to get in touch with more Evo owners and even go to a get together. Same with me, I plan to someday own an EVO. Gotta pay off the Odyssey first.
Right now, I'm living my car dreams through others and bench racing through forums and magazines. I'm such a geek. My last birthday cake was an EVO and for Christmas last year, instead of a gingerbread house, I made a gingerbread EVO. Coo Coo!
Anyway, thanks for reading. Take care.

wesside, thanks for the input. I would hope that for $2000+ (did a quick google search) for those coilovers, you would get a better handling and quality of ride than stock. Did you have springs before the coilovers?
Chris
Chris
just to let you know, lowering springs will actually make your car handle worse and kill your stock struts... the only lowering springs that are supposed to be worth anything are the swift's. i would tell your friend to save up and get some coilovers, in fact i think i might be selling my kw's so have him e-mail me evobeatsti@yahoo.com
