Utah Evos
I didn't mean too small for what we use it for, I just meant the main cause of the taper is too small of a turbo, not a BOV, or tune, or some other thing like many others seem to believe. I wouldn't go bigger than a 20g either, midrange ftw (hence the S1s instead of some crazy 280s), and I'm still leaning towards just a TME 6.5.
Maybe you shouldn't let Joe work on it anymore then eh Brandon?

Where do you think it will catch fire? MSM cut some tasteful holes on the side of the hood over the exhaust mani that look pretty good, and evacuate heat.
Anyone on here interested in a brand new Aquamist HFS-5 kit with DDS3 gauge? Its brand new in box and sells for $850... I will sell for $800 and do it for local pick-up here in SLC... I am sad to have to sell it since it just showed up today, but my clutch blew up over the weekend and I wont have money for a new one unless I sacrifice my kit
Here is some more info on it:

I also posted it in the for sale section along with my used K&N panel filter (used for 5000 miles, hoping to get $50 OBO for that) so if you or anyone you know is interested please feel free to PM me or call Brett @ 801-856-4256- thanks!

Direct bolt-on swap just like the 20g and others, it is what Ray had in his car, spooled up INSANELY fast and just held boost a bit better than the stock one, really the 20g-9 and the FP Green may be the better choices now but they're both slightly larger than stock. Don't think its any bigger (except the hotside) than our 16gs but it just has things like titanium ball-bearings better turbine blades and a polished housing... But with the 20g and the FP Green it is a hard comparison, they can all be had for right around 1k and they're all bolt on swaps instead of hard to install complete turbo-kits.
Congrats to MSM_2K for winning the pole yesterday @ MMP.. To bad he did'nt race though (Ran out of Brake Pads?). Laura set a new track record in the TORQ Evo(Vesko's) by 2 seconds. Would have like to have seen her and MSM go @ it.
It was frustrating to watch the race from the hot pits. I think it would have been a very exciting race. Not sure if I could have kept first on the start against the Evo. Previous day during practice starts, the yellow Evo pulled on my pretty hard down the front straight; though it had the pole position or I might have been able to take the first turn. A second start on Sat against the yellow Evo, I got a very good start by anticipating the green and took first going into turn one.
My qualifying time for pole was a 1:41.xx. That was my only clean lap during qualifying because, well, I spun in turn one on the first lap under green (d'OH) and then spent the almost all of the qualifying session getting out of traffic. On Sat I had 3 laps at sub 1:39 ... good enough for the record had it been in the race.

The S2K feels great. Quite a few nuasance issues that need to be addressed, but I'm pleased with the setup choices.
Issues:
1. Significant focus of 4 months of winter projects was prepping car to pass SCCA tech. Car failed due to simple issues. Most frustrating was an expired harness. Vesko came through for me, giving me a harness he had around the shop. Mr FickerFLASH himself was kind enough to do the install for me.
There was another issue with a need to have a bulkhead between driver and rubber hoses running to gas tank. Less obvious; though not the deal breaker. Again, Vesko came through with some aluminum tape that satisified tech for this event.
2. Silcone tube connecting the turbo to the intercooler was directly touching the exhausting manifold. Vesko spotted it with his first glance at the motor. A quarter sized hole had already burned all the way through the tube. Vesko came through again and offered to fix it temporarily for me so I could run on Sat & Sun. He had the car ready to go for me by 11 AM on Sat. Exceptional customer service considering he discovered the issue at about 11 PM on Fri.
3. No heat shield between the turbo/exhaust manifold and the battery. The battery melted and stopped working. When I asked Utah Imports why they didn't put the heatshield back in, the response was it didn't fit. You think they might just have fabricated it or something else or at least told me. I'm the mechanical idiot ... that's why I had them do all the work in the first place.

4. EGT sensor was hanging loose with a nice hole where it should be installed empty.
I should not have trusted someone else to pay attention and ensure the basics where covered. It's extremely frustrating.

Watching the video over and over again ... I can't figure out why the car spun? It doesn't even look like I'm changing steering input ... than wham-o ... I'm facing the wrong way with a gaggle of Miata's, bimmers and a couple of Evos headed straight for me.
Fortunately, I did the "... if you spin, both fit in"
... so I was able to quickly get the car down to the inside out of the way.Who owns Solid?

Sounds like they just put parts together, kinda, and didn't bother to think how things would actually work in a race envirnoment. The IC pipe on the exhaust and no heat shield for the battery is classic. "It fits...sweet, nice turbo install (high 5's)".
Congrats to MSM and Lara. They are both fast drivers. Vesko has done some amazing things with the suspension on that Torq evo. Just in case anyone is wondering, its running Tein Super Racings and a completley stock engine bay (okay, intake and exhaust), ftw!
Although, it hasn't been FickerFlashed yet (tomorrow it will be), so expect it to be a few seconds faster next race!

Lara raced ... I watched.

Looking at the work work-in-process on Lara's original Evo she's going to be un-touchable for my VTECH 'mobile.
